Other than he got played, that's the best thing for him. Is that he is gay and didn't know how to deal with it and panicked because he didn't want anyone to find out. Common thing that happens, people will admire his courage for coming out, etc. etc.

This is a really bizarre story. Te'o's statement was predictably legal sounding. I find it strange that he is quoted as saying he's met this girl in person, and that his family has met her. Now he's saying that it was a purely online relationship and he's never met her? There's something fishy going on here.
