Mark Warner: this race is about the past vs. the future

Warner earned it himself, not as the result of a preacher or JOP asking, "Do you?" And I bet he knows how many homes he owns. But as you say, that's beside the point.

the other arguments are lame and you know it. the car tax was a tax on usage - you pay for what you use. Gilmore repealed it and got the state into a frickin' mess - huge debts - you can thank him for that.

Best managed state in the country? I guess that was a hoax?

Best managed was a title Warner awarded himself (while completely ignoring Utah but they vote Repub anyway :p). Try driving in Hampton Roads today and see what that "best managed" grade got us. If there was a hurricane around here it would be harder to get people out than it was during Katrina, and not for lack of trying. He was a short term fix to a problem that is killing the region right now. Traffic is an absolute nightmare and is even worse than I experienced in Phoenix (which was ridiculous too).

I'm no Gilmore fan either (he just seems like an idiot) but Warner should have come out and detailed his plan. He said he would not raise taxes but tax revenues grew by $1.5billion. How is that possible?

He also targeted the large areas for taxes since much of his support comes from the other, more rural parts of the state.

And if Warner was to try to build his fortune in the same manner today he would be in jail.

Much of this is 2nd hand info but I'm trying to read up on him since he's running. I just may have to sit out everything but local elections out of disgust. I am sad this is all we get.

Economic growth.

But I appreciate your open-mindedness. Warner is a bad-a$$ and will be a great Senator if he wins.

:) I'm in complete agreement with you on this one.

The key is government standards......

How can you not love this face?

All things considered, remember by government standards....... I would take Bill over Bush, Gore, Kerry, Obama and McCain.

In hindsight, I'd put him even with Bush's first term. Ahead of Gore, Kerry and Obama but hopefully behind McCain.

Johosephat the Mongrel Cat fell of the roof today
Some say he fell but I can tell he did him self away
His eyes weren't bright like they were the night we played checkers on the train
God bless his soul he was a tootsie roll, but he's a dead cat just the same

We are living in the future, tell you how I know
I read it in the papers 15 years ago
We're all driving rocketships and talking with our minds
Wearing turqouise jew-lary and standing in soup lines

is there really anyone that could have screwed that up? (and W is not a valid answer)

sure there is. anyone proposing a windfall profits tax on the industries responsible for the economic boom under Clinton.
