I really couldn't care much less about Kiffin - he is worth discussing here only because my perception is just that he happens to represent the other end of the spectrum compared to Dooley. I hated that he left for the sake of the program, but didn't hold it against him personally. I actually think he was good for our program for the year he was here, but think he would've been disastrous over the long haul. I think most people would've done the same thing (left) in his position and I had no problem with it at all. Ambles also happens to represent the kind of recruit that is relevant to the overall discussion.

I will stipulate that the talent level matters - I already have said that. If a guy runs a, oh, let's say 4.1 forty, and there are character 'concerns', he will still get a ton of offers and very possibly one from Dooley. But Dooley is more interested in character issues and their bearing on a program in the future and is more likely to back off a guy because of character than many coaches, incl Kiffin.

That doesn't strike me as all that controversial - it seems readily apparent.

I think you're the one with unresolved Kiffin issues.

As for who's smoking dope - you're the one in Cali, rooting for the Bears. :whistling:

I imagine the conversation went something like this when he called UT.

UGA, Auburn, USC, and Florida passed on him. The only reason Tennessee got him in the first place is because nobody else would have him.

UGA and Auburn never offered him. He went to Cali to visit USC and Carroll wouldn't let him on campus. He tried to commit to Florida at FNL and Meyer wouldn't accept it so he committed to UT like a week later.

And just so you can get you facts straight, Ambles was not the #2 WR in the country. That would be DaRick Rogers, bro.

And whether you want to admit it or not, the way they handled themselves in the lead up to signing day makes a difference. The two situations are slightly different, from my perspective. Again though, I would understand if UGA fans didn't like him for it.

Not really - every time a coach backs off a recruit you get about 20 different stories why - ranging from we are after someone who better fits our systems, we didn't want him anyway, not enough mutual interest on both sides, and bad character/attitude issue is the most common sour grapes response. I'd be rich if I got a dollar for every time I read about a team getting cut from a top players list and the fans of that team claiming it was just because he was a thug and (insert coach name here) is a high character guy and won't put up with that crap.

Man, I hope you're right. Cause Andre Lott was hired to head the Vol For Life program in June and the Bar Knoxville Brawl happened in July. If CDD did that just to deflect Bar Knox fallout, then he can see into the future. Ought to help in recruiting quite a bit.

You're really not very good at this, you know. :)

The reason Andre Lott was brought in was to help kids just like Ambles.

7. WR Markeith Ambles, a 2009 AJC Super 11 selection, was recently granted a full release from Southern Cal and has returned home to Henry County. There is speculation he may transfer to Georgia State to be reunited with quarterback Drew Little. The duo set all kinds of passing records at Henry County under coach Mike Rozier. However, Ken Suguira, who covers the Panthers for us, reports that Ambles is still looking at options on FBS (formerly Division I) level.

Vincent Jackson, Marquis Colston and Jerry Rice are laughing....kid has the NFL size just needs to get it together. Rumors that Caleb King is heading to GState. Star Jackson, King and Ambles would be tough.

Ga. State had two QBs get a lot of playing time last year... Star Jackson wasn't one of them.
