Marlon Brown

I really feel like we have a shot with this guy, but I believe Ohio St is the team to beat. He paid his own money to go back up there on an unofficial.

Does brown still wanna play basketball too?

Yes, he would like to play basketball as well, at least his freshman year to decide which sport he would like to pursue.

Also, I got a call yesterday and MB has recently been telling his friends that he is going to sign with UT!! This is big news considering he has been saying UGA was his school for the past few weeks. He said he is pumped to be going to the FL vs. TENN (BBALL) game and will be wearing orange next year!!!

You are now saying he is a silent UT commit.

There has never been anything to make anyone believe he is a silent to OSU...

Hope the news from ArkansasVol is true!

Every OSU fan I know thinks he's a silent to them. I mean, he did take an unofficial on his own dime and can't stop talking about how he would like to play with Pryor and Boyd..

I don't think we've got as good of a chance as some people here are making it.

I hope they do, but I doubt it..

OSU fans of course would say he's a silent to them, and we our fans saying he is a silent to us.. It's all speculation, and we won't know til Feb.

Yeah, but I do think that the article where he says he can't wait to play with Pryor and Boyd at Ohio State is pretty telling. I'll try to go find that again.

I haven't heard anyone up here saying he's silent to OSU. People are optimistic about their chances of getting him but not anymore than the Vol fans here.

I can't find the article, but I remember it was Bill Kurelic talking about him. I can't be positive about anything though, but the guy I got it from normally has some pretty legit info, and Kurelic basically said the same thing.

Airight, so flip a coin to see who is right.

Heads!

I believe bburger about the article, I'm just reporting what I've heard from people around here. People here probably would say OSU's the leader but no one's gone as far to say he's a silent commit yet. The biggest problem is OSU's got Pryor while UT has...

Yeah, I just think that him saying that, along with Kurelic and a few other fans I know thinking that shows that at the very least, we're in a hole right now. Maybe we can end up convincing him otherwise, but I don't know.

I'd be thrilled with the chance of catching 2 of Pryor's 12 passes per game.

Not sure what you're saying. Just wondering why you'd be so pumped to play WR from OSU knowing they don't pass that much.

Gee maybe they didn't pass so much because he was a true freshman. And he still was more effective than anything at UT this last year and possibly next year. It's not like OSU's an option team. They plan on opening up the playbook next year as Pryor becomes more comfortable.

I was saying that Brown thinks he will be a better player with Pryor throwing the ball to him despite the QB is not a pro-style type of player. So if he wants to be the receiver he wants to be, then he needs to go to an offense where he will get opps compared to going to a program where the emphasis is towards the run.

Now if they have a QB like they have had in the past (Hoying,Krenzel,Broeckman), then he will have opps. With Pryor, good luck if the ball goes his way.

Remember, Pryor has been compared to Vince Young or Michael Vick. So expect more from the playbook with emphasis towards his ability.

Of course but Vince Young threw for a decent amount of yards his final season at Texas. One reason Pryor went to OSU over Michigan was because they ran a more pro-style offense. I mean Pryor strongly considered UT when they had Cutcliffe.

As the season went on, he looked like he was more of a dual threat QB.

Guys.... Pryor was a TRUE FRESHMAN, and lost 1 game as a starter. His instinct is to run first, cause thats what he did in high school. Another recent QB for OSU was the same way early in his career, but he ended up doing alright for himself as a passer (Troy Smith), while winning the Heisman. Pryor didnt throw much cause OSU didnt NEED him to, they had a great D and Wells in the backfield. If you watched the games, he made quite a few great throws. They had a good drop-back statue QB....but the O-line was horrible this year, so he was getting killed. If you cant see the talent and potential in Pryor, then you are blind when it comes to football, period. He wont just be throwing 12 times per game next year. If he played for UT this year, I bet we win at LEAST 3-4 more games. I dont think he is the next coming or anything, but I sure as hell wouldnt mind seeing him in orange and white.

He's not a great passer yet, because he never had to do it well in high school. In high school he was just thinking

Oh crap no one open yet, I'll just break it to the outside for 50 yards.

Now he has to adjust his mindset, and that takes time.
