Marlon Brown

I was surprised by his speed in the UA game. This would be a huge pickup for Kiffin IMO, 5 star and Memphis.

That being said, UGA is tough competition. Great town and great coach with integrity. (I know how appealing UGA is, my daughter chose them over UT-- the first one in the family not to be a Vol.) They lose Massaqua, but Green is a freshman. Also, who is going to throw the ball to him?

Sometimes friends can make a difference. Anyone know whether the guy has any friends Knoxville bound?

Everyone needs to understand that if we land Carroll, Patterson, Stokes, and Green or any combination of at least two of those that we will not get Brown. He is waiting to see where other top WR's are going.

he is now announcing on signing day so i really doubt he is.

and if he thinks he is the best wr in the nation he wouldnt be scared

If he claims to be the best receiver in the nation, then why would he care where everyone else goes? Is he scared of the competition,....maybe. I hope we get them all.

Athens is a great town and Richt does have integrity but couldn't the same be said for Knoxville and Kiffin? Excpet Knoxville is a bigger city. I just don't get what Athens has that Knoxville doesn't or what Kiffin has done to say he doesn't have any integrity. I think he handled the whole Al Davis thing about as good as he could have.

agree 100%

I want brown primarily for the publicity. Sometimes it seems like a key commit leads other prospects to follow. Regardless of all else, he's ranked the 2nd best wr recruit in the country and he is from our home state. Its kind of sad that we are having to work this hard to get him in the first place. I mean in Memphis, Tennessee fans outnumber GA fans by 1000 to 1. You'd think he would want to go to Tennessee regardless, make himself a local hero type of guy around his hometown... If he does go to GA, seems like a WHOLE lot of folks here won't be too happy with him!

I think Kiffin might pitch to him that if he comes here he can be a starter maybe our go to guy next year. In UGA he will play second fiddle for at least 2 more years to Green. I don't know if that is what he wants but eh..

Agree on all your points. I love Ktown and now have to endure a ton of
UGA crap down here in Atlanta. That being said, I now have a greater appreciation for Athens and Richt than I used to have. I am only saying I think they remain tough competition.

I love the way that Kiffin is fighting for Memphis. The arguments justifying losing good players from there never made much sense to me. I also think that things have changed with the HOPE scholarship. That means more non-athlete kids are attending UT out of Memphis. That will improve loyalty in the long term and may affect athletes in the short term.

Being in memphis I have noticed more of acceptance for UT since the new hire, what I mean is that when they thought of UT before they thought of Fulmer, now that Kiffin is here they are giving him a shot...may not be correct but that is what I have noticed in this town from Ole Mrs., Staters and Tigers....

For anyone to even speculate that a top recruit is watching which other talented WRs may be signing with TN makes me so happy I could scream!!!!

yeah, thats the common thought around here, But...but he or his h.s. coach has stated that he will sign in NSD which leads me to think that he doesnt care where all these ppl go. (If you think your the #1 Wr in the nation, why should you worry?)

Athens is a great college town. Lots of college bars that are all close to each other and all close to campus. Tons of beautiful women. Atlanta is only one hour away.
