Marsalis Teague

I could possibly see Teague announcing this weekend at the Tennessee East/West all-star game. Just a guess, but it'd be a great time for an announcement. BUT, I'm not sure. For all we know he could wait until National Signing Day.

i cant wait to see jared green in that game.he goes to my former high school lawrence count high probably the best player to go there.

Allen is pretty much a LSU lock right now, unless Kiffin pulls something out that no one expects.

LSU lock? Where in the world did you get that? He certainly grew to like LSU. But he is a born-and-bred UT fan growing up. Deep down he is very open to letting himself be convinced that the new coaching staff gives him enough reason to play for his home school. UT will have a battle on their hands to get him back, but he is nowhere near an LSU lock.

I agree. He said he was very impressed with Kiffin when he met him last week. I think he definitely gave him something to think about. I would not consider him anywhere close to an LSU lock. I kind of feel like he comes back actually. The fact Giles didn't, might give him even more of a reason to re-commit. He wants to be more of a RB type instead of FB and apparently LSU is telling him that. I think he could be UT's version of LenDale White.

I know he is good and all, but do we really need another RB with Oku and Williams probably comming in? I mean there are several committed athletes in this class that played RB in HS and could be used as a scat-back. Hardesty, Creer, and Poole all seem to be very capable. IMO Allen would be a plus, but in no way a neccessity.

So maybe he doesn't make it as a RB at UT? Neither did Jason Allen. Dominique Allen is a big, athletic dude from the state of Tennessee. Get him in Knoxville, and find a home for him on the field. Whether its handing him the rock in short-yardage situations, or having him harass QBs from the DE position... doesn't matter much to me.

Having to many RB's come in is never a problem. They can transition to other positions because of their blend of size and athleticism.

i agree with the poster above. You really cant have "too" many at any position. Ideally the more players you have at one position will result in better competition which will result in a better player.

Do we need Teague anymore? It seems like we're getting crowded at corner. Unless he moves to safety.

CB
Vinson (Jr.)
Rogan (Jr.)
Johnson (Sr.)
Evans (RS So.)
Raines (So.)
Gordon (Fr.)
Thigpen (Fr.)
Fleming (RS So.)

Do you guys think these Freshmen DB's coming in will redshirt?

I think Kiffin said he was going to try Teague as a WR on Offense.

Oh ok. Either way it seems like we're going to have a lot of athletes on this team. Depth looks like it's going to start getting a lot better and with all of the competition now everybody should be on their best game.

We'll also see the weak transfer! I love it.

by the way NewVol, if this was 2 years ago would you pass on Eric Berry if we were crowded at Safety. The point of building a program is taking as many athletes as we can of the field.

Vinson is a wild card to stay on the team, it seems yearly. M. Johnson had his own problems with the law. Don't know if Gordon will qualify and we shall see where Thigpen fits into the scheme before thinking he is a corner.

We had Poole, Hardesty, Creer along with Oku and Williams coming in, did we not want Giles at the time?

Believe me I know all about building a program while my brother went to USC. I dont disagree with getting as many athletes as possible but I think we are lacking on the OL and we can use that scholarship there.

I did not know of the problems for Johnson though. I assumed Thigpen will be playing CB because of the depth at RB.

Where is this info that Gordon is an academic casualty? I keep seeing that but I cant find anything.

Vinson and Rogan are the only proven capable corners on this list. Cant hurt to add one who may turn into a good player.

I just read this. When did he commit to Florida? I knew they were high on his list, but commit?

Former UT commitment Allen now trying to recruit Teague to LSU : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com

If Allen has his way, he won't be heading to Louisiana alone. Though Teague has already committed to Florida, Allen has been in his ear to change his mind. The two began their football careers together as children. If Teague does go to Florida, it will be the first time he and Allen have ever faced off against each other on separate teams.

"I'm trying to bring over Marsalis," Allen said. "He's already committed to Florida, and that's going to be kind of odd. We've played together since Pee Wee football."

maybe he is a silent and Allen let it slip.

I was thinking the same thing. Do you guys think this would be a mistake for him? Isn't there highly recruited guys at Florida thrilled just to get to play special teams? Would he have to wait 2-3 years to see playing time?
