Assistant coaches visit Teague, so does Saban : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com
Wonder what that conversation was like... "We're all about to get canned, save yourself!!"
Wish in one hand, and.. yeah you get the point. Letting in-state talent leave will come back to bite us.
We aren't letting him do anything. He is actively choosing Florida over Tennessee. The best case scenario is that he comes to UT and does well. That doesn't seem likely. So I hope he does absolutely nothing at Florida. That is not a bad bet since they have about 20 other recruits lining up to play there that can do what he does just as well. It is his choice. If he wants Florida then I wish nothing but bad things.
This is America and you do have a choice. We do not know the kid and why he may/may not choose the Vols/Gators. It would be ignorant and low to wish a kid bad luck just because he doesn't pick "your" team. I hope he is all Vol, if not I will be disappointed but I wish him the best.
Acutally - CPF's recruiting kind of dropped the ball on him. The kid wanted, and would have accepted, the offer to play at Tennessee had we offered him a scholarship when we did Allen. The same reason we lost Allen is why we're so far behind on him - UT coaches didn't stay in his ear. It's common knowledge around my parts that Allen shied away Tennessee because A) He wants to get a few touches a game, and UT didn't utilize the FB position, and B) After his commitment, UT coaches rarely ever did so much as to place a call to a household in Paris, TN. When I say Paris, TN, I mean Teague also. All Tennessee had to do was get a sweet package deal in Allen and Teague while staying in their ear to reassure them that they wanted them to be in orange and right now we'd have both on our verbal list. Now, I WILL say this - Teague, at first, didn't seem to be the big recruit that he is now. A very strong senior season factored into his status. I will say this, without a doubt, and I believe that unbiased people unlike me who have seen him play will agree - Throw his stars and his ranking out the window. When you see this kid play, you know he's going to be special. Now many things can factor into his talents, and for all we know he could have a career-ending injury covering a kick on scout team his freshman year at Florida and never play again. BUT, the chances of that are unlikely. Hopefully Kiffin can work a miracle and get this kid here, but I promise that wherever he goes, he'll make a difference. We aren't letting him do anything.
