Marvel Cinematic Universe

Finally watched Black Widow and thought it was really good actually. Definitely in Tier 2.

There were parts where she was more durable than reality would permit but that’s kinda par for the course in this stuff anymore.

My biggest issues with BW was that BW was way too durable and I thought Red Guaridan was pretty much a worthless character. He's supposed to be a super solider yet he got his ass kicked way too easily. I know he was presented as a joke and out of shape but that doesn't change the dude has super strength. As I've said before, that's my biggest complaint with most of these Marvel movies, they try to hard to equal out characters for "fair fights" but I can't turn my brain off and ignore their own rules.

Most of the durable stuff I was ok with except for the fall down like 10 stories. They tried to make it look like she broke her fall on things going down but it was too much. Even my wife was like “I didn’t think she had super powers.”

Can’t really think of RG getting his ass kicked. They shot him with 20 tranqs. Then he was in more or less a stalemate with Task Master for a minute.

Overall I thought the general plot was good. It was a worthy send off for Scar Jo.

Eh, I wouldn't call it a stalemate, she pretty much whipped him. Plus does Task Master even have super powers? Because if she did that would make more sense she could hold her own against a super solider but then it makes less sense when she's fighting BW because then she should probably much destroy her.

Ok you are right. She whipped him.

In the comics Task Master can learn a fighting style and match it within seconds. (Also it’s a dude with his own a agenda, not a mindless drone)… I get your criticism of RG but I can accept TM completely catching him flat footed. She gave BW a pretty good thrashing too.

I get I'm complaining about made up physics and science and all, but it's weird to me that dude can deflect a Captain America level sheild thrown at him and pick up a tractor but a punch from a skilled yet still pretty much human person can hurt him. I can buy TM is a superior fighter as RG is clearly not in top form but still...you get super strength and by association that means it should be harder to hurt you. Even if she's connecting shots, it shouldn't be knocking him around like that.

did i stutter?

Sorry had to

Just watched Eternals. Honestly don't get all the bad reviews. I'll agree it was the "worst" of the 4 MCU movies released in 2021 but it still was fine. I'm not going to put it in my Top 10 or anything but some of the reactions were extremely overblown. My biggest complaint was it was too long. The first post credits scene was...meh but the last one was pretty awesome.

When people want to give it a kind negative review they call it “ambitious”. I would agree with that. It is long but it had to establish and develop 8 characters with centuries of life.

I thought the 3rd act was particularly well done though. Nice to see most of the action in a well lit environment for a change.

If I had to give it another criticism, the references to the overall MCU felt a tad forced. The questions about why didn't they help with Thanos was legit but stuff like "Oh I knew Thor" and the talk about who will lead the Avengers seemed to be added just to be like "Hey everyone, we're in the MCU!" It kind of gave me the vibe of the Netflix shows when they would just spout out something about the "New York incident" from time to time.

I personally am requesting a thorough and in depth movie about Celestials, think Silmarillion of Marvel, specifically for @Mozdukemod.

Just watched Eternals. 5/10. I don't remember Ikaris being a villain.
It was definitely longer than needed to be.

Enjoyed last 1/3, Ereshim the Judge was cool.

Story was a bit off kilter. Last 1/3 was excellent, was a lot to pack in.

He wasn’t… Druig was though. That was a twist.

But the whole concept of the Eternals and Deviants was tweaked. They weren’t agents of Arishem of the Celestials. They were another species of Earth along with humans.
