Marvel's Black Panther

After gaining knowledge and guidance from Africans. Or did the fact the Moors ruled Spain for 800 years go over your head?

Our problem as a race is we are too kind. We gave Europeans all our knowledge and then they turned around and attacked us with it.

And before you try your whitewashing the Moors were black. Go to Europe and see the countless portraits and monuments dedicated to the Moors. It's easy to see they were black.

Yeah, no.

Sam Harris on the so called 'Golden Age' of Islam - YouTube

I was dismantling his entire premise. The "Sub Saharan" word is code for black. The implication being black people are only native to the part of Africa below the Sahara (i.e. not associated with Ancient Egypt).

That narrative is a complete lie. Every part of Africa outside of the small strip of land along the Mediterranean sea is currently black and the entire continent was black during the height of Ancient Egyptian civilization.

The accomplishments of Africa are numerous. Starting with the very first civilization in world history (Ancient Egypt). A civilization for which the Ancient Greeks explicitly say they owe everything they know to.

And since Ancient Greece is considered the start of western civilization, one could argue that without black Africans there would be no western civilization.

Thank u so much for posting...

Why listen to what some guy living now says? This is how the lies of white supremacy work. Guys with agendas after the fact rewrite history to suit their agenda.

There are portraits of Moors dating back to the 1500s all over Europe drawn by Europeans. Go look them up. There are monuments dedicated to the Moors rule. Thankfully Europeans didn't tear them down. The blackness of the Moors is self evident.

Look no further than the popular culture of medieval Europe around the time of Moorish rule. Do you know what race Othello (from the Shakespeare play) is typically depicted as? There have been countless movies done on him. Almost always the actor is black. Laurence Fisherburne being the most famous actor to play the role. Do you know that Shakespeare referred to Othello as? "The Moor".

In medieval Europe the words black or negro didn't exist. When someone was referring to someone of African origin, they used the word Moor. It was a synonym for the word black.

Another movie that used the term Moor as a synonym for black is the Martin Lawrence movie "Black Knight". If you don't know the plot, Martin Lawrence travels back in time to medieval England and he's called by the whites of that time a "Moor". At first he thinks its a racial slur like the "n-word". He finds out later that it just means "black".

No refutation of anything Sam Harris has to say about the so called "significant" contributions made by Islam to the advancement of society? Your best play is to call him a liar and a white supremacist. Lol. Dude you're out of your element here. Go back to the recruiting forum and bungle some more football personnel predictions.

The rebranding of the Moors as non-black Arabs is a white supremacist whitewashing of history. Just as the attempts to deny the blackness of Ancient Egypt.

If you look at European sources before the 1800s you'll see that the Ancient Greeks and Romans were well aware of the blackness of the Ancient Egyptians. As were medieval Europeans aware the blackness of the Moors given how they depicted them in portraits and monuments all across Europe.

It's funny how according to whites TODAY black people are uncivilized and incapable of civilizations while whites in medieval Europe and Ancient Greece viewed black people as the smartest and most advanced people on Earth.

I urge my white brothers and sisters reading this thread to go back and study what their ancestors thought of black people. You'll realize that the things we believe now about one another are completely manufactured. White people and black people in the Ancient world actually coexisted beside each other cordially. The idea that our history started at the slave trade is a complete lie.

I'm not here to get into arguments about religion. I'm only here to argue about the true place of Africa and black people in world history.

Shh shh.. don't scare him off...

The Moors were Muslims during the supposed Islamic Golden age of "advancement". Their contributions to the world are laughable. This is what you're holding up as great achievement by a black population. It is complete nonsense.

I'll admit, I'm impressed you said white brothers and sisters, first time I've seen you speak as though we're all the same. Which I'm we are all people.

I'm Batman.

Now, back to the movie. Anybody got any reviews?

Acting was good. CGI was impressive in some parts, and horrible in others. Wakanda was visually very well done. Would have been cool to get to explore more of it. Plot was kind of stale. Action was lacking, imo. Some political messaging throughout mixed with little jabs at the blue eyed devil. Not as much humor as you may have come to expect from Marvel (which isn't necessarily bad, but imo this movie could have used a tad more levity). Overall, pretty good. Not the masterpiece being touted by some of the left wing imbecile critics who love to pander to and infantilize the black community. I think it deserves a 7 or 7.5 out of 10.

I liked the first part of the post. Why the op-ed on race? Why even go there? I just don't understand some of you guys. Really, quite frankly you need to grow up. There are other people in this World.

The Civil War happened, slavery happened. Time happened. Move on. You don't have to forget. But, you don't owe anyone anything, other than to honor the past and use it to learn and teach from.

I just don't understand where all this butthurt came from. Is it really because we elected a black President? Is it really that bad to think that another person, whom happens to be not like us could possibly be not only 100% qualified - but, is not like the cultural norms that your forbears insituted and fostered for generations? is it possible that people of color have much more to offer culturally to us? That we as a nation stand to learn from them, and them from us? That tyoe of love and respect for one another is whar it will take to rid the Country of this divisiveness.

I really don't understand the hate for someone with an opposing viewpoint. The left wingers pander to the black community? Sad. Maybe we should all follow our venerable leader and be a pompous self absorbed prick to high tails it to vacation when going gets tough, right? Cause that 'blue eyed' ********** is so much more fit for the job?

White people aren't used to being anything short of adored in popular culture. So when even the smallest criticism of them appears, you hear things like "war on white people," "stop calling us devils," minorities are "ungrateful," etc.
