I guess that would classify as the shocker that Austin was going after, considering most thought he was going to FSU.

wow. Butch Davis...nicely done.

give a lot of credit to the UNC admin for making this decison early on so he didn't miss a beat on recruiting. didn't get started late and looks like it's paying off for them.

probably thinks he will get alot of playing time there since the defence is on the feild for 80% of the game

you start getting good players combined with a good coach....other players start to take notice. and once it gets started, it's like a snowball.

Butch Davis hitting a homerun so far....UNC has done well.

y'all are forgetting that UNC has some quailty kids that were redshirted last season...they are not completely void of talent on hand right now.

they will have the opportunity to play early and often and probably be on a pretty good football team at the same time.

I agree, I don't understand why people continue to downplay them...the class they are putting together is quite impressive and that can't be discounted......

Now that you mention that, didnt they have a pretty good recruiting class and redshirt most of them this past year, Jake?

yes, i don't think it was a like a top 10 class, but definitely top 20.

Butch Davis will look like a hero from day one.

i don't know that they'll be a top 20 team next season, but when you consistently have sub .500 records, an 8 win season next year is not out of the question.....and with the 12 games who knows....the ACC is down right now in football, this is the perfect opporutnity for Davis to make his mark. and i think he will. life just got a lot tougher for GT, Clemson, VT etc.....

if you mean struggle by our standards, then UNC fans would consider that a resounding success. get them 8-9 wins, and they will throw a party.

the ACC is down. it's ripe for someone like Davis to come in and bring a program like UNC up from the ashes.

yep...but grobe had EXPERIENCE....mostly all jrs and srs on this past year's team.

Wake's program was not as down in the last couple of years as NC's, plus Butch Davis was a proven coach at Miami, he is not yet a proven coach at NC. I'm not saying he doesn't get it done I'm saying it will not be overnight. 1 recruiting class does not a champion make.

But at the end of the day, he's still just the football coach at a major basketball school.

well, that's the thing isn't it?

Mack Brown couldn't over come it........it will be interesting to see if Davis has any more success in winning over the fanbase and changing the culture.

but that is truly the only thing that keeps UNC down, and if they remain down, that will be the reason.

start winning though.......and he'll be off to the races.

Didn't UT put UNC on the schedule a couple years ago? I think we may play them in a few years.
