Do you give Meyer credit for this year's NC or Zook?I don't think you can put too much stock in that because Cokers' first 2-3 years were with Butch's players...Yes, you still have to coach them but once Butch's players graduated you saw the "U" really decline....
I don't know that I would agree with the last statement just because Spurrier will probably retire at USC. Arky fans think Davis will be their coach by next year and he apparently left that out in his contract.and i do agree about NCSU...they actually care about football...they got a good coach and the talent they have should be better than UNC....
but let me ask this......how many times has NCSU beaten UNC the past couple of years with supposedly better talent?
UNC getting DAvis was the equivalent of S.C. getting Spurrier.
i give a lot of credit to a coach that comes in and coached someone else's players to a title.Do you give Meyer credit for this year's NC or Zook?
I've argued for awhile that the D won it for them and that D was designed by Zook.
I firmly believe that the jury is still out on whether the Meyer version of the spread will be effective versus the quality of defenses in the SEC. It depends on the QB being faster than the LB's and on his athletes being faster than the D's athletes. He made that happen in the MAC, MWC, and even against OSU but they scored over 30 only once against an SEC D. However even that is misleading. Arkansas gave them a defensive score and a 9 yard drive.
Their offense averaged just over 20 ppg against the SEC. About 10 less than against non-conf teams. Overall they averaged just under 30... but that was skewed by Western Carolina and UCF.
what does that have to do with anything? the impact he can have on that program is defiintely the equivelent of the impact SOS had on SC.I don't know that I would agree with the last statement just because Spurrier will probably retire at USC. Arky fans think Davis will be their coach by next year and he apparently left that out in his contract.
I don't know what happened to Amato. He seemed to just fall apart.
"Mega-recruit Marvin Austin appeared sluggish during the portion of North Carolinas opening practice reporters were allowed to watch. He was the last one in line to run through many of the defensive line drills, and position coach John Blake had to tell him to put his shorts back on after he took them off. Moments later, Blake had to tell Austin to tie the drawstring in his shorts because they were falling off his rear end."
