I am content with that now.. rivals has him saying he signed his LOI to UNC..

I am sure he will still be awesome there.. best of luck to him and I am glad we don't have to play against him.
we're all so happy for you.:)

Well, that sucks, I thought we had a really good chance to get Austin, guess I was wrong. A kid has to go where he thinks is best for him and I guess Austin felt UNC was the place for him, but I just don't see the attraction to a bottom tier ACC program. We have a great class without him anyway though.

considering the coach they just got, the good players that were red shirted this past season, and the quality of atheletes they are getting this season, i would expect this perception to change, sooner than later i might add.

Changed, you are probably right about, sooner rather than later I am highly doubtful about. We shall see, be interesting to follow won't it ?

With Fsu and Miami down a bit, the window is wide open for a team to win the acc. I wouldnt expect Unc to make a run for it...but then again I wouldnt have expected Wake Forest, even though they improves a year before.

Plus, Im sure Austin thought about Julius Peppers when he committed.

Miami and FSU will not be down long plus Davis will do no better than Mack Brown at best. Then he has to compete with VT, BC and Clemson. UNC in football will be at best a middle of the road ACC team

Just curious, what is your reason?

A friend of mine is an Arkansas fan. He said that Davis' contract has an out if he's ever offered the Hog HC job. He said that most of their chatboard commentators and some with a little more credibility think that Nutt is gone after next year barring a miracle and that Davis will be the new coach.

Oh, btw, Carolina is STILL a basketball school with at mediocre football facilities at best. It is a beautiful campus and probably the most liberal public college in the south. If Austin is the flake he seems to be, that might have been attractive to him.

The only way they compete for the championship within 3 years is if Clemson, FSU, BC, VT, and Miami all fall apart.

I predict NC State is more likely to be there in 3 years than UNC. They didn't get the name or charisma but probably got the better coach.

if Wake Forest can win the ACC, then a Butch Davis led UNC team can.

not true...they are renovating the stadiume etc....the facilities are not as bad as one might thinkg.

i'm not saying UNC is going to win a national title....but if they continue on what has been started, there is no reason why UNC won't be a good football team. and keep in mind, their expectations are far lower than what we would consider "great".

they string together a few 8 and 9 win seasons together, and that would be considered a wild success in crapel hill. and if they do that consistently, they'll get a 10+ win season once in a while and who knows....

as for the rest of the conference, it is down right now. i think BC, VT, Miami and FSU will all be back as well...but as far as coaching goes....you really think tommy bowde is better than butch davis? don't think so.

O'Brien made BC a winner though he never had the athletes his competition had. In fact, he'll have better athletes to work with this year at State than he did last year at BC where he went 10-3 and competed for the conference championship.

Prior to this year, UNC and NCSU had very similar recruiting.

We'll see but O'Brien has a much better track record for doing more with less. State's fans will also support football better than UNC's.
