Maryland Buying out Friedgen; Leach Leading Candidate

Mike Leach is not a piece of crap. He is a different cat, but not a piece of crap. Texas Tech will be paying dearly for standing with the James family. Its well known in Celina, TX that Adam James was a worthless player undeserving of a D-1 scholarship. Leach took a chance on him after Craigers begged him to offer his son. Then they went all Judas on Leach. Texas Tech is a difficult place to win, because it is in the middle of nowhere. I think that Leach to Maryland would be interesting......but ......he is not a piece of crap.

Leach is a bird of a different fowl. Very engaging, but definitely strange.

A lot of the hatred is unwarranted.

He's engaging to people who enjoy pseudointellectual babble masquerading as insight. To the sane world, he's a flake and a goof.

Still not following your unwarranted disdain for the man. I'm cognizant of your well-known Oklahoma leanings, but he's not a flake. I know that he isn't the quintessential coach, but the animosity is puzzling nevertheless.

Yeah, Leach isn't a flake. His incoherent ramblings are ample evidence of a sound grasp on reality.

I don't ever remember Huggs trying to pass off some stupidity about pirates as philosophy.

I'm sure you don't remember Pete Carroll ranting on about a Tennis book, or Saban indoctrinating his team with mindless tripe on the "War Daddy" Alabama way either.

What's there to hate on?

I'll overlook his various soundbites and look at his record: somewhere in the neighborhood of .250 against Texas and Oklahoma, none of those few wins coming on the road. In fact his overall road record against division opponents is terrible.

Maryland will post a lot of offense, come up short in places like Blacksburg, Tallahassee and Clemson, finish 2nd or 3rd in the division on a regular basis until leach does something stupid again and gets fired.

I agree with this almost entirely except for the Clemson part. Clemson always seems to have trouble with Maryland and with Leach at the helm, that could change. For the better or worse, who knows?

he'll be 8-4 9-3 coach most years i think until he lands a job where he can consistently land a top 25 class... then watch out... that's all he'll need to get to a BCS bowl

I agree with hat in that Leach is bat sh*t crazy... but for whatever reason, he was quite successful at a place where success is earned, not given.

Maryland is a similar place, will be curious to see if he can duplicate his success.
