Masoli ineligible by NCAA/Cleared on appeal

I think Masoli would be a differencemaker for Ole Miss, but considering we have Wilcox, I think we win that one either way.
A small running back singlehandedly beat us last year. Of course we had someone new learning to quarterback the defense and the bbgun fiasco on top of that, but McCluster did it. He is now playing with EB. No worries.
I havent read it yet, but saw where Clay Travis tweeted he had an article that the NCAA made the right call here. Did they? If he was coming here(not that we would want or need him-just a hypothetical), would we feel the same way?

I don't think they made the right call for several reasons. He's already graduated and found a program that Oregon didn't offer plus it's not like he got kicked out of school. I don't know whether they will overturn it, but they made the wrong decision IMO.

the whole thing was strange anyway. dude transfers after basically not attending school for months and somehow it's ok because he becomes a film major?

It certainly is a mockery to academics, but such is the nature of the NCAA.

My only problem is the ncaa should have told him earlier. Why let him transfer then wait days before the opener. They could have told him no before he left Oregon then he could have maybe entered the draft or tranfer to a pac 10 team. They just screwed ole miss too. They were gonna use him like Nut used Mcfadden at Ark and have a great change of pace qb. Hey would have been like Tebow was his freshman year but more productive. Better luck next year.

One more game to get to 6 wins!!!!! Yea!

All seriousness.......NCAA messed this up! He should be eligible based on the rule the NCAA has. Ole Miss is screwed. Players wanted Masoli and don't trust the other QB. Cotton transfered to Jackson State. Now they have to go with a QB that is not trusted by his teammates, told by the staff he is not good enough to lead Ole Miss, and has gone from starter , to back-up, back to starter in 3 weeks. Jacksonville State is pretty good! Took FSU to the wire last year. Game could be interesting!

Hope to goodness JSU wins! Would be great for the OVC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be shocked if this isn't overturned rather quickly. The NCAA ruling him inelidgible is contrary to their own rule book. He graduated and left Oregon to transfer into graduate program not offered by Oregon - which waives the sit-out-a-year rule. Is it sneaky? - obviously. It is breaking a rule? - not at all. In fact, he has followed the rule specifically as the NCAA has it written.

They have to allow him to play immediately and rewrite the rule if they don't like how it is used.

They rewrite the rules as they go along, they broke bylaw after bylaw while the means fiasco was unfolding.

Is there something about the Massoli situation that we don't know about, something that the NCAA came across?

I think he got screwed. Everything that he did was within the rules. While I don't 100% agree with the "you can play at another school aslong as you graduate and go to a school that offers a grad program your old school doesn't" rule, Masoli did everything the rulebook requires. He graduated from Oregon and found a school that offers a grad program that Oregon doesnt. It's to be noted he got dismissed from the Oregon football team, not the school.

I'm not being a smart a$$, but I never said the Ole Miss players "trusted" Massoli....I said they did not trust the other QB........Massoli is a great player, and they wanted him at Ole Miss.

And no...Ole Miss players are never very smart! LOL!
