Mass shootings in Maine

So ….and I already know the answer….I wonder if an “assault rifle “ has ever been used in a mass shooting?
We both know the answer. Anybody with a basic understanding of firearms knows the answer. Yet here we are mocking a completely clueless uninformed angry mental midget whom has tripled down on that assertion 😂

The only time I remember a full auto mass shooting was the Bank of America LA robbery in 1997. I never heard how they got those weapons. I would think they weren't acquired legally.

The 1986 law banned manufacturer or importation for civilian use all full auto weapons. The law limited full auto guns to weapons registered prior to 1986 so the pool of weapons in 1986 is what we have today.

Limited supply means very expensive. An M16 could cost as much as $30,000. Obviously to own a pre-ban full auto you have to go through an extensive background check by the ATF, pay the government $200 for the tax stamp, and wait a year to receive permission from the government to own it.

That BOA robbery was unreal. Body armored up. I go watch that on YouTube.

The 1997 bank robbery wasn’t a mass shooting. It was a bank robbery where a “mass” of LA cops, feds, and bank robbers got killed. It was also the catalyst from what I remember that began the era of arming urban police departments like third world dictator ran militaries.

Yeah, I didn't consider it your typical mass shooting but it was the only time I could recall full auto weapons being used in a similar way.

So I’ll come back to the same question I always have when I see compromise floated.

Compromise involves 2 sides coming to the table and giving up something they hold to reach an agreement - what are those looking for the 2A crowd to give something up going to give up in return in this compromise?

To them compromise means they get their way and everyone else can suck it.

Semi related note. That robbery inspired the movie Heat. It's held up really well, worth a rewatch.

The “mass shooting” that resulted in NFA1934 was the Valentines Day Massacre. A bunch of mob guys killing a bunch of other mob guys. In effect who really cares but your federal government never missing an opportunity to apply over reach creates NFA1934 to protect the citizens from a bunch of mobsters killing each other 🤷‍♂️🙄

Stretching back a bit but I think the Thompson Machine Guns used in the St Val Massacre qualify.

But mob/gang violence is more like wild animals culling their herds than anything else.

Hasnt it already been said anyways that this guy used a hunting rifle? Im not sure how any new laws wouldve stopped that. Some people just like talking out of their ass.
