My friends, there is little better in life than settling into the old leather chair and letting the "tooornamint" play out before you...

Once again The Masters website will offer live streaming video of the play in amen corner. Plus of course live scoring.

The Masters.org

The question is always who, not named Tiger or Woods, has the best chance at glory....

My name this year...Geoff Ogilvy.

Golf Channel pre tournament coverage begins tonight I believe.

Here's to a great week of golf!!

The only real problem Tiger can have at Augusta is his putter. If he is hitting the 6 to 12 footers even half the time, the jacket is his. When they are just missing, it takes the gloss off of his entire game.

Tiger has spent his entire career, save for 2000, rescuing himself from his driver. That is a problem he can play through...

I really think Tiger is as sharp as he has been in a long time coming into this one. I expect he'll do the job.

But you never know...

Could this be the year that Davis Love III comes through in his home state?

Not at Augusta any more. Course is now for the bomber who drives it well for the week and avoids 3 putts.

I see a little truth in both, but even a shorter driver can shape their shots at Augusta and still compete. It is the poor putter that is doomed from the start.

Poor putter is doomed in any tournament of any sort. Short hitters only prayer is that ALL of the big boys play poorly for the week. Mike Weir is a shining example. New length has put the focus on driving, whereas the course used to be all about quality approach shots. Approach shots still dictate putting, but tee shots affect those approaches far more than ever before.

Approach shots dictate putting, but the shorter drivers are used to five irons into greens rather than 7s, 8s, or 9s. Even Tiger's more memorable puts at Augusta have been the 12 and 15 footers.

I still think putting is more important than driving in the Masters especially. This is not a "bomber's tourney" yet.

I'll agree that Tiger's putting has won for him at Augusta, but look at the list of winners since the big length changes have taken place. Hell VJ won with a cross handed grip on a broomstick (but he was putting reasonably well at the time). that's hardly the stuff of putting legend.

Before the big changes you had really strong iron players (Faldo, Langer, Olazabal) winning. Those guys couldn't win the tournament today, unless all of the bombers were playing poorly. The changes were intended to Tiger proof the course, but actually limited the list of potential winners. The way to make the tournament more open, would be to go back to 6,900 yards while keeping landing areas narrow by keeping the second cut. This would give the control types a prayer.

Standing to the right of the 11th green and behind 12th tee on Sunday - best place on earth.

Lucky! I would love to go to the Masters on Sunday or just a tournament round. Have a great time!
coming home on Sat this year, but spent last 12 Masters Sundays standing in that spot. Wife would kill me if I didn't make it home for the Easter Egg hunt, so I'll be listening to Nantz with everyone else.

Pulling for Phil, like to see Luke Donald or Adam Scott come through, anyone but Tiger....but for the record, my pick is Tiger

I'm really not one of those who is always pulling for Mickelson. He has a huge following though, and I guess the reason just sort of eludes me. He's a nice guy, yes. He's a great interview before or after the round. But, lets be honest, he does not possess a game that really puts him in class with the game's very best. He's a multiple major winner, and I don't want to sound like I completely disrespect his game. Still though, I'd bracket him with Vijay and Els among current players. That is solid company to be sure, but not Palmer-Nicklaus-Sarazen-Nelson-Jones material to this point.

On the other hand, viewers and patrons alike flock to marvel at Woods but, strangely, they don't seem to be really pulling for the guy when you ask them. A Tiger roar at Augusta is unmistakable. So fans cheer his amazing talents like none other. Yet ask thirty fans walking in the gate who they are pulling for today and the answer that will come out of about 65% of them....Mickelson.

Quirky lot, we golf fans...

I think a lot of people pull for Mickelson because they yearn for Tiger to have a rival. There are some good golfers out there, Singh, Els, etc...but I think Phil is a tad above those guys but not at Tiger's level.

Mickelson has historic talent, but doesn't have Tiger's work ethic or penchant for never missing big putts, both of which are death when playing against Tiger in the vast majority of your professional majors.

Nonetheless, Phil's an arrogant, aloof pr1ck who puts on a good show for the cameras. Probably the most disengenuous guy on tour and the least liked pro among his peers. None of that dimishes his talent. Make no mistake, in a world without Tiger, he goes down as one of the best ever.

You know, they used to say the same thing about Jack Nicholas a Payne Stewart. Payne came around in his latter years.
