Gay Brewer and Miller Barber have no chance. Hell, they could barely trudge up the hill at 9 10 years ago. New rule that phases those guys out was very merciful, for them and the fans.

The way UF has been rolling look for Chris DiMarco or Camilo Villegas to slip on a Green Jacket.

Things have to go very well, but DiMarco can obviously compete. Surprise given is high cut (though he does spin it) and the claw.

Camilo has the pop, but no experience. Not sure I like his chances. Scratch that. I don't like his chances even a little bit.

Oh I was not being serious, just joking about UF, although DiMarco has proven he can play there.

What do you think of Furyk's chances? I think he has the mental toughness and the iron shots to compete, but is his driver long enough?

Furyk putts so well that he can win anywhere, but with the course stretched out he has to play nearly perfect in order to be in contention.

My darhorse is Adam Scott. I followed him at the Tour Championship last year. When he is on, he's as good as anyone.

On Furyk, agreed.

On Scott, disagree. He's a great ball striker, but his scrambling is not the quality of the type that win at Augusta.

Tee Times And Pairings

Mickelson off at 10:56am with USamateur winner Richie Ramsay and Adam Scott

Woods off at 1:52pm with Paul Casey and Aaron Baddely

So we get to see most of Tiger's round on Thursday and most of Phil's round on Friday. Coincidence? I think not.

Live web coverage of holes 11,12,13, amen corner, begins tomorrow at 10:30 am on masters.org.....

I have decided on a sleeper. I have a gut feeling that Darren Clarke will be competitive this week...if he can stay away from the keg.

He loves the place. Friend of mine roomed with him at Wake when they were freshmen on the team. They link up every year at Augusta about 2 weeks prior to the tourney and play a couple of rounds. He says the place suits Clarke awfully well.

My problem with that is the fact that Clarke is an awfully streaky player / putter.

Just a gut feeling. His name jumped out at me while reviewing the field. He is streaky, but seems to be carefree enough to eventually make a run in a big major. I do think this course suits him as well as any to do that.

Every time I think of Darren Clarke I think of the story he told on Jim Rome's show about going through a stretch when he was playing bad and matching up against Colin Montgomerie who at the time was one of the top golfers in the world.

Prior to the round they are eating lunch and he sees Montgomerie go up to this desert sculpture of the clubhouse and he "spooned out something equivalent to the whole west wing of the building" and proceeded to eat the entire bowl. He looked at his wife and said "I may suck balls right now, but there ain't no man alive that can eat that much custard and beat me."

So what do you do with your badges when you leave early? I am not looking for any, just curious. Sell them or give them to friends?

they belong to a member staying in one of the cabins. I just leave them with him.

been before?

I've only been to the tournament itself 3 times, but I've been up there for practice rounds too many times to count.

I've gotten to the point that I don't go as often because the next week I am always over at the Heritage in Hilton Head.

but that can't compete with the egg salad sammies and the total non-corporate environment.
