Masters Week!

TW has played these last 2 holes so bad this week I doubt it will happen. But you never know with him...

...and 17 and 18 aren't exactly what you would call birdie holes.

Good for him. I honestly thought on Friday after botching those two putts he'd be done. Oops.

Congrats for Zach, though i was worried when he was crying with wife and kissing baby with Tiger still on the course...once Tiger hit the drink it was okay, but he was too happy beforehand, i'll never be in that spot, but if it was me, i'd have been popping 5 Irons on the range to stay loose

I ain't eatin' any crow until somebody can show me proof that they picked Zach Johnson. :)

I did a Master's pool and Picked Tiger, Donald, Rose, Johnson, and DiMarco.

So that kind of counts right?

Yeah, that counts. What number pick was Zach Johnson - about 30th? :p

We each got a set number of points and could pick anyone...so theoretically you could have the same squad as someone else (we were amateurs so I guess we didnt think about that)

Sounds strange, but Johnson was the beneficiary of some really foul weather on Friday and Saturday.

That certainly emboldened the Europeans. You know some of those guys Papa, what do the high scores do to their egos?

The difference yesterday was that Zach Johnson's putter (except for one bobble on 17) was hot and Tiger's was ice cold. Their birdie putts on 14 and 16 were from almost identical positions.

Yep. As much as Tiger struggled, if he makes the birdie at 16, he probably has the momentum to get one more on 17 or 18.....

Johnson earned the win though. 69 on a Sunday like yesterday was no small feat...

I didn't read the whole thread so this may be a repeat but -- this Masters combined my two favorite golf events. It was at Augusta but with US Open scoring.

Excellent.

at that level and in a major, I think most are indifferent to gross score. Most spend their time thinking of hole scores relative to the field / closest competitors. Talk around the locker room was about 74 being a good score, until yesterday.

I'd say Tiger's putter was very good on mid to long par putts. Only one I recall him missing was wicked left to righter on 10. His distance control was horrendous and he left himself ugly par putts all day.

As to 14 and 16, on fourteen his lack of speed control reared its head, on 16 Johnson putted an awfully straight put right up the hill, Woods had a pretty hard right to lefter which relied heavily on speed.

That said, Johnson, with that strange grip, made some strong putts on the back and one heckuva chip on 18.
