Be careful, you might get flamed for not wanting a pocket passer around here because in some conspiracy theory, it may mean you wish to tarnish the legacy of Peyton Manning.
The comment I originally responded to said that he "wanted barclay because he's a pocket passer." Obviously, the poster doesn't know a thing about Boyd except that he's a black quarterback. In fact, Boyd's a pocket passer first, who happens to be mobile, but then goes on to say that pocket qb's have better judgement, which reads like an underhanded racist comment, considering that Boyd is a pocket passer. Typical...
Tee Martin beat Florida because the defense forced 6, yes 6 fumbles. Peyton's offense scored more points against UF than Tee did in either of his years, and Clawson beat them twice (and one time Spurrier was the coach in Gainesville). To say that you HAVE to have mobility at QB to win in college is a falacy.
OK:
Mobile quarterbacks vs. Spurrier 2-2
Non mobile quarterbacks vs. Spurrier: 1-5
Throw in Vs. Urban Meyer and Spurrier:
Non mobile quarterbacks: 1-8
Even including the Zook/Spurrier/Meyer years:
Mobile quarterbacks 2-2
Non Mobile quarterbacks 3-10
Only Zook Spurrier years:
Mobile Quarterbacks- 2-2
Non mobile quarterbacks- 3-6
(didn't count the 2004 win because Schaeffer and Ainge both played quite a bit, and both did well at times. Ainge led us down the final drive to win, but Schaeffer led us to points as well and officially started the game)
