Matt Barkley to visit?

This has nothing to do with what anyone is talking about, but hey we're talking about giles and oku on a matt barkley thread.. BUT...

Talk on the IllinoisLoyalty.com forums is that phillip fulmer is interested in becomming the OC at Illinois, placing Mike Locksley. I dont know how true these reports are but thats been the talk around there

We needed a good transition back to Matt Barkley.

If CPF goes to Illinois, how might that improve our chances of getting Barkley? I'm thinking it's one less job someone else from USC's offensive coaching staff could take. That would favor Barkley staying committed to USC which is what we've thought all along.

Thus, Barkley isn't coming to UT.

Not too smooth, but now the Barkley thread is back on Barkley.:)

Zook has said he wants to keep the DC area a prime target. I dont know if CPF has any ties to there. Also on a USC standpoint.. Zook has said he wants to expand to maybe the Cali area and Texas area for recruiting. Could be interesting with Illinois OC being a hot job. They have so many weapons there returning next year, it could be appealing to CPF.

It's refreshing to be talking about the real USC program and not that knock off program in Columbia.

Zook and Fulmer on the same staff would be comedy to SEC fans. Geez. I don't see CPF taking that job if that's what you're asking. CPF would add little value to them in recruiting a QB. Cutcliffe was the guy here who was the QB guru... at Duke now as an HC.

The current Illini OC is the up and coming coach in this group. Where's he going?

Yeah i agree, and what would CPF do to help the spread offense? Illinois is not going to change for CPF. ALso rumored Chris Leak could be brought in for the quarterbacks coach, as Zook and Leak had a great relationship. WOW.

I dont know why Illinois would like CPF as their OC, unless the fact to bring another high name profile coach into their program to help their recruiting even more. I still wonder how Zook can recruit such good athletes at a school that consistently finished in the bottom of the Big 10. Yes i know they went to the ROse Bowl last year but they won 3 games in 2 years before that.

yeah....zooker can just recruit. I guess its just like Kiffin can recruit, but he just has a better base to start from ( our tradtions, etc.)

I am not a big Jimmy Hyams fan but, he said this morning on 104.5 the zone in Nashville that he doesnt think UT gets another qb for this class.

He's gone.... New HC at New Mexico.

You don't know that.

I'd say given what we know, he is 100% right. No chance in hell Barkley ditches his dream destination where he is set to enroll in less than a month for a coach that he has had no relationship with on the other side of the Nation. Will not happen.

I'll say he's prolly right, but he doesn't know that he isn't coming.
