Matt Barkley to visit?

Well I guess that's understandable. I just figured that since Barkley has kinda been on the UT radar a little and since Kiffin is going after a couple west coast guys that it would just be a little something to talk about.

Of course, we'd all be excited about his interests in UT. There's just little evidence he has any.

Btw, Cock, now that Oku is officially ranked higher than Giles, do you guys see why we're happy with the guy we got?

Savage is just as good, IMO..... Taking him from Rutgers is 99.9% more likely than taking Barkley from USCsr.

Oku was always ranked higher than Giles. However I think both schools got good players. South Carolina really liked the speed, agility, and cut ability of Giles. His game tape shows that he is the type of RB that South Carolina needs. Oku is also a very good back. A good deal bigger than Giles, but supposedly not quite as fast. They both have the potential to be great.

They both run 4.5s. Oku is more physical and sees the field better from what I can see. In Giles highlights he just hits the hole at full speed and didn't have to do much but out run everyone... he gets to full speed a bit faster.

Giles can run a 4.3. I know it says 4.5 on rivals and for a while I was like WTF but he has run a 4.3. Nike scouts timed him at a 4.38. The combine where he ran the 4.5 was in the rain. Giles is also considered more of a homerun threat and a better open field runner. Oku is bigger and more physical and apparently less injury prone.

Both scout and rivals list him at a 4.5. I don't think that's a coincidence. A 4.38 isn't a 4.3. I would agree his a bigger home run threat - but a better open field runner? Look at his videos - he doesn't make cuts because he's so quick out of the hole and into the secondary.

In Oku's video you see him run through tackles and make a lot more cuts at full speed. From what I've seen its hard to say he's better at that - I'm not saying he isn't - but in all of his highlights he hasn't had to prove it... because running in a straight line past everyone isn't what I'd personally consider 'good open field running.'

I see where you are coming from but many analysts including Rivals claim that Giles in space has the ability to change direction in small spaces and also that he has great acceleration out of cuts. Rivals actually rates him as the second best in the country when he has space.

Any running back is going to be good in space. Hell, me or you could run when there is space.

All these points about Giles are moot. He's playing for USCe. A Spurrier RB... please?

Oku simply follows other Vols into the League.

Giles made a bad career choice. Sorry. Nebraska would have been better than USCe.

Why should anyone at UT care about Giles now? Talk about him on your board.

This has nothing to do with what anyone is talking about, but hey we're talking about giles and oku on a matt barkley thread.. BUT...

Talk on the IllinoisLoyalty.com forums is that phillip fulmer is interested in becomming the OC at Illinois, placing Mike Locksley. I dont know how true these reports are but thats been the talk around there
