Those of you thinking Fulmer is going to make a coaching change this season are just as crazy as those of you thinking Pruitt is going to make a qb change this season.

At this point you just have to take it on the chin and hope for a better round next year.
If Pruitt loses out, I don't see how Pruitt survives. Fan apathy will be as high as the sky.

I think a lot of folks don’t realize that Tennessee can hire better football coaches than Pruitt but if it’s not a hype name, top rated recruits aren’t coming. To beat Florida, Alabama, Georgia, you are going to have to recruit like they do. A big splash would be feeeze, Kiffin, Meyer, Stoops. Other than that, the rebuild will take an additional 6 plus years unfortunately.

Matt Campbell is rated one of the top recruiters in the entire country. And all he has to do is sit down in a living room and say, "listen, I took a program that was one of the worst programs in Division 1 football and brought it back with a bunch of 3 star kids. Imagine what I can do with you." He is a big splash hire. I doubt we can get him due to his contract structure and the fact that Michigan and Penn State will also both likely be after him but anyone thinking he's just a ho-hum hire is so far off base they aren't even in the ballpark. They aren't even in the parking lot. This guy can flat out get it done. If he had the facilities that UT provides to go along with his coaching and recruiting - he's about as good as you could get for anyone trying to hire their next head coach.

Yep, many of us UT fans cannot comprehend relativity when it comes to coaches toiling at lesser schools. Mullen was dismissed by some of our brightest because he had not won an Sec or national championship at MSU. Your fellow gator fans are probably glad that Florida’s admins are smarter than some of us on Volnation.
He was their 3rd choice and he waited for them. I wouldn’t put them on Peyton’s game show.

And you may be right but recruiting in the SEC is different. If you ain’t got a big name, it’s very difficult to compete.

This is what I thought when we fired Butch. If we did not make a splash hire we would be wasting our time. Same thing now.

That’s exactly right, it’s time for a big name hire and Tennessee won’t make it happen. It’s just not fun anymore. There’s just got to be too many egos involved.

Not happening because at tennessee instead of proven coaches we would rather take unproven coordinators that have played for proven coaches and pay them millions

You make the SEC to be something it isn't. The SEC is "top heavy" just like every conference in America. GOOD coaches can win anywhere! Doesn't matter the conference.
Well this coach hasn't won much of anything in a terrible conference that has never played one down of defense

Why would he leave That's been a better school than us for the past decade and a half. Lateral move at this current time, prove me wrong
Iowa State doesn't attrack top 100 football players like UT does....plus they (Iowa State) with Campbell has only signed 4 4 star recruits since he's been there

Don’t waste your time. These are the same people who absolutely LOVED the Derek Dooley hire. You know because he used words like “britches” and “supper.” Plus he “understood” the SEC because of his dad.
Never saw a single person excited by the Dooley hire.

Yeah go ahead and tell an 18 year old kid how relevant Tennessee is. They under 5 years old last time we were an above average football team

Ask an 18 year old kid how relevant Clemson was in 2008. They had not had a 10 win season since 1990 at that point. Oregon had good teams a few times from 2000-2008 but it wasn't until 2009 when they hired Chip Kelly that they became the hottest ticket for a few years.

18 year old kids may not care about the current Tennessee tradition. But they would care about playing for a coach that could prop them up into real contenders. Playing in front of 100k+ in your home stadium. Reviving the passion of fans that got to see the winning ways prior to this decade of destruction.

The pieces are already in place at Tennessee. It just needs the right coach to bring it home. Matt Campbell would definitely be a guy who can get the job done.

You know, everyone down here acts like the SEC is something different. It really isn't; SEC equals Alabama. The only reason LSU won last year was a quarterback from Ohio....

We have our Coach for next year(Pruitt) and he has his starting QB(JG) for next year. Next year is our year.
