I agree, but there’s nothing up and coming about Matt Campbell. He done up and came to the Big 12 Championship Game today and almost won that sucker. Dude has arrived, at Iowa State of all places.Campbell is a good coach no doubt. I also like PJ Fleck. But honestly we can't handle another up and comer, if you can't get a big time name (Freeze) just stick with Pruitt no sense in doing this all over again
BumpThis is the mentality that prevents Tennessee from making good hires.
He's at Iowa State. Iowa State has played Oklahoma 85 times. They have beaten Oklahoma a total of 7 times. They are 7-76-2 against Oklahoma.
Matt Campbell is 2-3 vs. Oklahoma while at Iowa State. One of those Oklahoma teams had the Heisman Trophy winner and went to the CFB Playoff. The other is currently ranked #14.
Iowa State hasn't had 4 winning seasons in a row since the 1920's. Calvin Coolidge was President. He has clinched that this season
Frankly, with his resume, he could do better.
He's a nice dream just like many other guys we've hoped for. If he and his family are happy there, I'd see no reason to make a move into these difficult waters. Hell, even Liberty is paying 3m per year for a football coach. At some point, you have enough money and it becomes a matter of what makes you happy. I'd stay right where he is. No risk of getting fired in 3 years. He's at a place where he might just be able to retire there. Then again if he wants to test himself against the best, I hope he chooses UT. Frankly, I don't think we could get a big name here unless he had some baggage/flaws. Guys like Freeze and Kiffin who are viewed as "risky" would be most likely for UT.ISU deserves him. Leave him be.
Because when he took over for Paul Rhoads they all attended a bbq and movie night in Coach Rhoads honor...ending in an ice cream social before his keys were relinquished and friendly escort off of campus.Might have a shot if no one sends him a link to our boards with with fan reaction to current coaches issues.
