Campbell is a good coach no doubt. I also like PJ Fleck. But honestly we can't handle another up and comer, if you can't get a big time name (Freeze) just stick with Pruitt no sense in doing this all over again

18 year old kids may not care about the current Tennessee tradition. But they would care about playing for a coach that could prop them up into real contenders. Playing in front of 100k+ in your home stadium. Reviving the passion of fans that got to see the winning ways prior to this decade of destruction.

The pieces are already in place at Tennessee. It just needs the right coach to bring it home. Matt Campbell would definitely be a guy who can get the job done.

Fleck should be at a better program than Minnesota no doubt!

Campbell would do well here. Damn good coach and he could probably recruit well enough to compete with GA and FL.

I saw PJ Fleck mentioned. He's just the trumpet blower we had prior to Coach Gomer on steroids. You don't want him here IMO. I know I sure don't.

Never said I wanted him here but he's a good coach, hard to argue what he did at Western Michigan before moving to Minnesota, far from a "trumpet blower" but your probably referencing "Row the Boat"🤣🤣

I don't like referencing Lyle Jones by anything but the trumpet blower - and that's a toned down version of what I call him but this is a PG13 board. I'm saying that Fleck is just a different version of Lyle. May be a bit better but I still don't want another cliché machine right now.

Yea those 6 different programs winning national titles the last 20 years and 7 other ones being ranked in the top ten during that time is definitely not better than the Big Slow or PAC 12 🙄

I agree with you, but Campbell isn’t an up and comer. I think Campbell is a much better get than Freeze, in my opinion.

Aside from a game or 2...his teams don't get blown out. They are always competitive. That Louisiana upset doesn't look that terrible anymore. He's near the top of my list...along with the Indiana coach and Freeze.

If TN is the top 10 program it claims to be and charges its fans for then go offer Matt Campbell $6M to come. Pay his buyout. If he turns us down publicly so what, at least the fanbase will then know the admin is legitimately trying.

It doesn't matter if he is a Midwest guy. TN recruits itself, every coach since Fulmer has had a top 10 class. Butch was a Midwest guy and brought in 2 great classes. Great CEO's will be great anywhere.

- went BIG on Kiffin and blew-up in our face
- panicked on the Dooley hire, nobody to pay big money to
- went cheap on Butch
- went cheap on schiano then had to go cheap with Pruitt because we had no other options
