May be Kiffin's best recruiting class at Tennessee

Your intellect is truly impressive sir.

I mean you cant seriousily be this clueless. Look what O did with the Ole Miss program. Also some of the coaches Lane has put together are former RCs with contacts to different talent rich areas of the country. I guess you failed to factor this into your flawless logic.

If Hamilton had given Coach Phil a blank check for OC last year, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Coach was just too easy on everyone-players, coaches, and admin. He should have been tougher. Next job he gets, I bet he does even better than at Knoxville.

Always someone else's fault. Ten years of excuses.

There is a purpose to this thread.... I have been meaning to learn about the ignore features here at VN but have not gotten around to it just yet. With that said, I think I am ready to make the leap....

I give props to Fulmer for his recruiting abilities, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. It's not like this class was gonna be epic if Fulmer stayed around. We retained many of CPF's players, and where do we rank currently?

With as many recruiting coordinators as we have on staff, it's stupid to assume they'll never have a class better than the 16th best class in the nation with 0 5* talent.

Gimme a break...

Have we ever had this many high prospects gain interest this late in the year. When at a earlier time were not interested at all?

We kept Drayton, got Reaves, and South Carolina still got Giles

Then there was the brilliant move of telling Tahj Boyd he didnt fit in the program

And as far as O goes, one of his big recruits was one of Coach Phil's rejects- Brent Schaeffer

Lane, Monte, and Orgeron have a combined coaching record of 31-57, and none of them are over 50%. If we don't really start out by winning, it is going to be hard to be competitive recruiting in the SEC.

Let me see. Your logic indicates that all was well on the hill. And we should have kept a recruit that we did not want.

Dude, Phil lost to Wyoming.

What exactly would Giles have done for us? We go from #16 to $14? Facts remain that this wasn't one of Fulmer's best classes ever, and he didn't have us in contention for the elite prospects. Besides, Kiffin has us in better contention for Marlon Brown, so the two recruits cancel each other out anyway.

As for telling Tahj Boyd that he doesn't fit, what of that do you have a problem with? You want them to recruit guys just to recruit them, despite the player not fitting scheme? Boyd didn't fit Kiffin's scheme, so he wasn't gonna play if he comes here. You want a 4* player ridin' the pine just for Vols fans latch onto the notion that the coaches aren't "developing talent" as the reason for the player not starting? Not me. I know better.

Coach O has many great recruits, going back to both his days at USC and Ole Miss. Point is that he's not the head coach here - Kiffin is. One would think Kiffin would have final say on an offensive position being recruited, so the Brent Schaffer thing is irrelevant. He can bring in defensive talent, as he did at USC and Ole Miss. That's what we're expecting from him. He may have been a poor head coach, but he's only in charge of recruiting and the defensive line right now.

Kiffin and O may be good, but look how many top ten classes Fulmer was able to get to come to Tennessee. I mean he was so good, he even got Gerald Williams to commit 3 times!

Oh, OK... you aren't being serious.

Carry on...

You had me going for a minute.

If your coming out of hiding to post something like this in order to stir the pot, congrats you accomplished your goal. On the other hand, if you are serious in what you say, do you even know how bad our recruiting has been in the past 6 years for the most part?? Also, I look for UT to land a Top 10 class next season with it looking like it maybe a Top 5 class with the groundwork we are laying in and out of state. You ever hear of something called a clue?? If not, you might want to catch one, it helps.

If he'd received a blank check, he just would have hired another "Yes Boy" to make sure his back was covered and keep the rest for himself. He sure wouldn't have hired anybody that could possibly be better at his job than he was. Job security, you know!
