Maybe some of us have been looking at this all wrong...

Maybe we need Zo to win a few more games in order to make himself more marketable.

I heard from a couple people that Zo wants out of Knoxville and wants to get back to the midwest. The only issue is does anyone want him? Word is that Hart is hoping we can win a little more so Zo can raise his profile so he can take another job elsewhere and Hart doesn't have to take the backlash of firing a guy after 3 years of 19-20 wins.

There are plenty of mid-major to high major programs that would love to hire Martin. Like a seton hall/Purdue or some team that has been very bad as of lately would hire Martin. Imo

I've heard similar things.

Fyp.

Fwiw, I agree with op. This team finishing strong could potentially fix the issue...assuming CCM does want to leave the area. I'm not sure he's a good fit here, with our fan base expecting more than mediocrity.

So much lulz

When it becomes clear that Martin is likely gonna make the tourney and be retained, thus ending your hopes of #BBB, you have to have a fall back. So now it, sources are saying Martin wants out so secretly Hart and Martin are working together to win games to get Martin out of Knoxville. This is pure gold.

Fwiw....I'm hearing Martin and Hart are currently working on a raise and contract extension. His wife who recently opened up a business in Knoxville is looking to expand and purchase a few more stores. At least that's what my source is telling me.

Did I not mention this several days ago before the last three games? Cuonzo was mad because he didn't get extended last year.

Just for the record, you're the 1st to mention Pearl in this thread. They're are other options.

I don't know there's a lot of people praising our mediocrity right now.

Yes there are, however how many are seriously considered before you-know-who is named?

The rarest poster on this site is the one who wants Martin gone but doesn't mention anything about....you know.

I've been very critical of Martin, but if we don't hire Pearl, Martin may as well stay. I'm not happy with mediocrity but maybe he can end up making it.....we'll see.

I want the best coach we can possibly have, no matter who it is, I just don't think it's Martin.

Not enough Jimmy's and Joe's to support his lack of X's and O's on the roster next year.

His job will likely be in play again next March, it will just cost UT more to get rid of him then if he stays.

From his point of view, this may be the most marketable/valuable he'll ever be if he can get an NCAA win or two. Pearl's players will be gone and the talent fall off is steep after this.

It's definitely looking like Martin will be back another year but he doesn't deserve an extension or even the slightest bump in salary for squeezing into the big dance by the skin of his butt with a veteran team in his third season (if that even happens and it's not a done deal).

Martin may make the tournament this year but it'll be a long time before we make it again as long as he's the coach.

I'm going to need you to tell me the power ball numbers for Wednesday and who wins the Super Bowl next year seeing how you obviously know the future. I'm not CCM biggest fan by no means but this statement is absurd.

He barely got into the tournament this year with one of the most talented rosters he's had. How in the crap do you think he's going to make the tournament next year with a less talented roster?

Extremely wishful thinking. I also think the SEC will be quite a bit better next year too. Florida and Kentucky always have good talent, but Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia, and LSU also return a whole lot of talent.
