Mayberry fans?

"Boy, Giraffes are selfish!"

What could be better than Tennessee football and Andy Griffith?! I had a cousin growing up who used to say as a little kid, "A day without Andy is like a day without sunshine."

Overall, nothing could replace the charm and nostalgia of this show for me. Although, I laugh out loud more at Seinfeld, there is no denying the excellence of the Andy Griffith Show. It is a shame that some casual or less than casual fans feel it is a simple show, relying mostly on slapstickish type humor because I think there was some brilliant writing going on in the black and white episodes. It is maybe the one show for me ever made that I have not and do not ever expect to grow tired of. I've seen EVERY black and white episode at least a dozen times, and every time I see one again, it's like there's a fresh excitement about it. Anyway...

A couple more quick lines I think are so funny...

In the episode where the "Hollywood" movie producer is looking over Mayberry for a possible movie, and he holds his hands up as if looking thru a viewfinder...Andy starts doing it too, then Opey wants to look thru Andy's 'viewfinder,' and Aunt Bee says.."Scat! That's not for children!"

From the travelling preacher episode who preaches the sermon on "What's your hurry?!"...and then the idea builds of reassembling the old town band for a band concert, I like Barney's line..."Gomer, get down there with those spiders and start hammering!"

From the episode where the "young doc" comes to town and Barney gets Andy worked up thinking Elley is falling for him, I like Barney's line..."Two young people lost in a world of pills."

And finally, in defense of the color episodes, they were not a total loss!..I like a few of those episodes really well. My favorite line from them is the 'Old Sam' episode when no one wants Howard Spraig to go fishing with them...Goober is mad that Andy invited them; Andy says, "Well, Goob, what did you want me to do...lie?"....and Goober says..."Well, what's wrong with that?!"

Anyway...GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!...and let's all get together for an Andy marathon the day before Tennessee kicks the Trojans' you know what in the Rose Bowl!

Yeah the B & W are classics. I saw Andy Griffith in an interview, and he said the theme of their show was "love". When is the last time you heard of a tv show where the theme is love? The writers on that show were the best.

Some of my favorite episodes are the one where the state police come to town hunting for a fugitive. Another favorite is the episode where Barney and Flloyd stumble upon 3 escaped female prisoners. Barney dances with one of them to lure her out the door so Andy can get the cuffs on her.

We were talking about the show, Andy, and Mount Airy where they now have the Snappy Lunch Cafe, the jail, the barbershop, etc. with some folks we met from down in Mount Airy tonight at the restaurant where we ate.

watched an episode yesterday where Barney was teaching Goober how to behave on a date. He took Goober over to Helen Crump's house, where they observed Andy and Helen through a window. As Andy started to kiss Helen Goober exclaims...'They're doin it! They're doin it! It was hilarious....by the way, didn't Andy Griffifth do an album many years ago about going to a Tennessee Volunteers football game?

He did a bit called "What it was, was Football". Basically a parody of what a country bumpkin saw when he went to his first football game.

I truly love any episode that features Barney. I got to meet Don Knotts in Knoxville some years ago, and he was a very nice person. One of my heroes...Bernard P. Fife!!!
