As much as I've critiqued mcbee, I LOVE his tenacity. When he goes into football mode when battling for a losseball I lose it. Here's his statement about the loose ball with blackman...
McBee got into a heated loose-ball scrum with Savannah State’s Preston Blackman and wound up tearing the ball away as the refs charged in to prevent further incident. The teams were sent to their benches as officials reviewed video before play resumed with no fouls called.

“I’m out there to battle; it’s part of my job to bring toughness to our team,” McBee said. “My brother is about 6-5 and 280 (pounds), so I’ve had a lot of practice wrestling around with him.”

It looked like a porn stache....I mean porn star wrestling under the sheets. No seriously, the man that wanted the ball the most came away with the ball. Blackmon got punked.

Who else on the team fights for loose balls or tie-ups like him? Tatum is the only one that comes close to giving the same effort on D. That is what coach Zo expects of all of his players. In the first half he hit the floor for a tie-up and Tatum got in there with him. Then 3 of his teammates including Tatum ran over and helped him up - they have so much respect for him. Vol posters that don't respect him should take a hint.

Coach Zo saw better than even Pearl what McBee's value is. He leads by example by giving 100% all of the time - both ends of the floor. He now plays some of the best D on the team. He IS their clutch 3 point shooter, nobody else is even close. He doesn't take plays off or cruise through his time on the floor like the many of them. Right now he is one dimensional on offense as a long range shooter because they have Golden, McRae and Tatum to drive to the hole. But if more of the offense ran through BcBee he would give it his best. That's why Zo calls his number if a clutch 3 is needed now.

I am excited about the team's prospects for next season. Yemi will take a big step up inside as well as Richardson on the perimeter. They have some really good upside. With Golden, Maymon, Stokes, and McBee there is a very solid nucleus that will only get better in the off-season. Hopefully McRae will develop and become more consistent because he has such offensive upside that he can literally take over a game. Should Hall get his act together there would be 4 talented and experienced bigs.

CM's angry looking stare started then and was directed at Mcbee as in, "that's what I'm talking about" because the team wasn't showing much fight against an inferior opponent.
He loved that sequence.

If McBee had the size and talent of some of the other players on this team he'd be a lottery pick.
On the other hand if they had his competitive spirit and grit we'd be in the Dance.

That kid, Blackmon, didn't appear to be trying to hit him to me. It was just a scrap for the ball. Good for McBee for coming up with it, and good for the refs for giving everyone a moment to chill out afterward.

Blackman threw a punch and high elbow. Both missed but he should have at least been given a single foul. A double foul was just a cop out by the refs.

i know we've all had our share of McBee hate of the last couple of seasons but man has he stepped up lately. I love the sharp shooter walk on story. I'm looking forward to watching him in his senior year.

I didn't see it as a punch or anything dirty from the SS player. The slow motion replay made it look different than it was. It was two guys aggressively going after the ball.

Frankly, I thought they'd T up McBee for bulldozing across the lane. But at the end it was a no call and everyone went back to playing basketball.

I played ball with his brother a few weeks ago. He is a solid guy, so I can understand exactly why Skylar has that physical nature to his game.

For as long as I live I'll never forget that face. I don't know whether to be scared or pumped by it, but it's now my phone screen saver.

My gf went to check the time and freaked out, calling it a "devil face".

That's how I saw it too, but I wasn't sure if McBee was pushing Blackmon, or Blackmon was pulling McBee, or some combination of the two. Probably the latter. If the announcers were to be believed, Blackmon is a nice kid. So is McBee. I thought it was a great no-call by the refs.

Martin's face makes ya just want to go slap someone silly. I was telling my roommate that I bet it's so much fun seeing him get fired up before games. Thats the kinda of coach id wanna play for, and it's the kinda coach UT needs.

Just looked at the video. No contact, but Blackman swung a high elbow (which is 100% a flagrant foul), but that happens all the time and rarely gets called. Kinda surprising that the refs didn't call a flagrant or tech on Blackman because he definitely let go of the ball to take a shot at McBee. If that's not intent to injure, I don't know what is...

My god, I forgot how stupid those commentators made themselves look. When McBee got that flagrant 1 in the first half, they kept saying it was a "textbook definition," but it was just a regular foul to stop the easy layup. He made a play for the ball, and fouled the guy on the arm. It was nothing more than that.
