theoretically, the VA provides said ride. Realistically the disaster that is the VA / military medicine is a very good picture of the ineptitude to be expected from a US Gov't run medical system. The funding is astounding and the care is laughable.one issue that pisses me off is if anyone has ever been to war and does not get a full medical ride.

they fall under the same medical system, but they also receive disability income for life. That income is based upon level of disability and military pay grade while serving.
There's no need to "Swift Boat" John McCain or resort to dirty campaign tactics. All you have to do is look at his record and see that his stances on Immigration, Campaign Finance Reform and Taxes are at odds with the base of the party. I fully expect Romney to try and beat McCain over the head with those issues.
The people who defend are willing to risk everything so medical care should be one of many free rides from our goverment.
That is pathetic of our goverment.:no:I'm a veteran of Desert Shield/Storm, the only care I was offered was in the case of any "Gulf War Syndrome". Otherwise, because I was a member of the National Guard, the VA would not be providing any other benefits.
After watching how the VA "cared" for my stepfather, I'm happy to pay for my own private insurance.
