McCollough indicted

Wether it was 30 feet outside the apartment as Spencer claims, or 2 feet outside the apartment as McCollough claims, the point is they were outside the apartment. Why didn't McCollough just shut the door, lock it, and go back to whatever he was doing? He bought himself a whole lot of trouble for what?

I have thought the exact same thing! I am just wondering if he thought he would be some bad azz and go after a much weaker person. Is that the thug life?

If other guy was hammered and walking away and, especially far from the apartment door when McCollough hit him, he needs jail time. That was not self defense.

What was the new evidence introduced by Jaylen McCullough's lawyer that convinced Heupel and the Athletic Department to reinstates him last fall?

All prosecution case to the Grand Jury. Zero exculpatory evidence presented either.
I served on a Grand Jury once. The DA would read the charge then recommend a true bill or no bill. Of course, that is in my small town, don't know if that's how it works other places.

I would probably have done the same thing as McCollough and would now be asking myself the same question you are asking. Being able to think rationally and strategically in the heat of the moment is a valuable skill and one that is hard to develop (at least for me).
We really don't know if the guy was being aggressive after he was outside the door. If he was that's a whole other situation.

Just wondering how much of the (whole) story we heard here on VN? I know our VN reporters were quick to get on the scene but, always side B to every Side A, right? Hoping for the best. Would be great to stack the Grand Jury with 10 VNites!!

Welcome to the U.S. Justice system 2023. Murderers don't get prosecuted. Thieves attack businesses without fear of any consequences. Political prosecutions are the new normal. The poor kid is being unjustly prosecuted because someone wants to stick it to a football player. Simply pathetic.

This is ridiculous! Use his NIL money to pay for the new teeth of the victim and settle this out of court with a deal. We have thugs shooting people for goodness sake in Chicago and NY and other large cities and out on bond the next day or a slap on the wrist. This is minor compared to that! The kid admitted he was drunk and walked into the wrong apartment and became hostile so McCullough has a right to defend himself and his apartment. Here in Florida the drunk kid could have easily been shot with stand your ground law and McCullough would have never been charged in Florida.
And I said this before. If this is allowed to play out, then in the city of Knoxville, people are going to shoot intruders instead of fist fight.

Crime of passion. Some lunatic busts into your home and you telling me your adrenaline isn't going to have you freaking out for a few minutes? Put yourself in his shoes. Its real easy for you to say, "Well I would have handled this in a more dignified and calm manner" when you are not in the situation at that moment.

Also, I thought in the statement/document released in the police report, I thought McCullough hit him inside the apartment also because he had went into one of the rooms?? I have to go back and find the write up.

Both parties have a completely different story as to how this went down. Obviously, someone is lying. The proper thing to do is give the case to a jury to decide. Each man is entitled to his day in court.

If your drunk enough to walk into the wrong apartment you just might not remember a story

I just noticed, either this isn't the document I was specifically looking for... or this has been altered. The one I was looking for I think was maybe one released by his attorney? Because it was several pages and in particular, it mentioned that the police body cam video showed that Zion guy with a liquor bottle in his hands as he was being interviewed by the cops.

Opening an unlocked door isn't exactly "busting into your home". He's intoxicated, opens the door, and walks into the wrong apartment. Does he really deserve to have his face caved in? McCullough wasn't in any danger. He went off when Spencer said "you don't have to be a dick about it". I believe the street name for that is "disrespect". That's exactly what happened.

He shouldn't have been intoxicated and coming into an unlocked door.... Anyone entering your domain unwelcomed its natural instinct to suspect bad intent... The exact details we don't know but walking into a strangers place the guy is lucky he is still alive

If an intoxicated man walks into another man's home, the drunkard gets what he asked for.

The prosecutor looks like he is trying to make a name for himself. "I got a UT football player"
The prosecutor was doing his job. I think he did it well in this case.

Walking uninvited into someone's home and refusing to leave is busting in to someone's home. Threatening to come back in is grounds to get your face caved in.
