The same GSU team that went 9-3 and won the Sun Belt this year, their 1st season in the conference I might add.
The 2007 ULM team out of the Sun Belt that beat Bama and Saban wasn't even the conference champ, and went 6-6 that year.
Regardless, here's hoping McElwain has no such growing pains; unlike Muschamp, he comes in with head coaching experience, so I think it'll be a smoother transition for him.
k: Actually SEC rules ruined that rivalry game; back in the '90's the conference mandated a certain number of home games for all SEC teams, and another home 'n' home with an in-state rival just wasn't feasible.
But even if it was, why should we handicap ourselves further by playing yet another OOC foe that would be a tougher matchup than most other SEC teams' tune-ups or OOC opponents?
Our schedule is typically Top 5-10 anyway, and is often the toughest in the SEC; so we have nothing to gain or prove in the strength of schedule world.
When was the last time your schedule was toughest in SEC?
