McElwain to be next Florida coach (merged)

Real easy when all the rivals you have are in the conference.

And the other teams in your own state are a joke.

We happen to have two programs in the state that have combined for 8 national titles in the last 32 years.

Really catch a break having to play a team that is ranked annually and a national title contender 75% of the time over the last 25 years.

Will M:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:c be building brick by brick or just bring Rome back overnight?

He didn't have to at CSU. Took a group of 3* and 2* kids and turned them into winners.

Dan Hawkins did the same at Boise State, Brady Hoke at Ball State, Tommy Bowden at Tulane. For every Urban, there's a Dooley. It's a hit or miss game.

who really looks for 2 tough occ games in one year tho?

Florida is required to play four tough out of conference games in the snow or people will complain.

Nevermind that Florida's schedule is in the top 5 in terms of difficulty pretty much annually.

We'll see.

Now I believe we will have a shot to beat the good teams on the schedule.

UF on installments to CSU. Lol. It sounds better to the average joe but if for some reason this guy got into NCAA trouble or just flopped imagine making payments of one form or another into 2020.

Slightly off-topic, apology in advance but I can't resist.

Its almost like college football is a business. :dance2:

This is going to be so much fun when players get paid and have employment contracts.

I can only imagine the grumbling if he had been hired as our coach. Yes, he's 10-2 but is 10-1 against unranked opponents. He won by a field goal over Utah State....at home. He lost to Air Force on the last game of the year.

Can he recruit in the SEC? Probably, since he was the former OC under Saban, plus it's not hard to recruit in the state of Florida. It may be a solid hire, but as already stated, he doesn't strike fear into the heart of this Volunteer.

He coaches in the MWC, most of his opponents will be unranked every year.

Les hasn't lost his sense of humor, stick in the eye of the SEC.

From your permanent SEC Western Division opponent, welcome back to league Coach McElwain. Will enjoy continued great competition w/ Florida.

Les welcoming him back to the SEC by saying "I'm going to whop your azz every year" in a nice way.

I took it as a super jab at the SEC but I am sure Florida is just as unhappy with the situation as LSU.

I think Florida is happy with LSU on the schedule.

Years where LSU is a home game, it's the best home game on the schedule.

Played Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, LSU and three cupcakes at home this season.

As good as Missouri has been, the Missouri game has no fan interest.

Being in the SEC East sucks for a fan. It really does. And for us, Georgia is never a home game which makes the problem worse.

Oh, by the way, even with that home slate, Florida lost three home games.

SMDH. Thanks, Will

Florida is pushing 14 million on the buyouts for Muschamp and McElwain and thats before you start paying the new coach and asst's their salary.

Hard to believe Florida fans aren't livid over this amount.

If he goes 6-6 his first 3 years they will be. If hes starts winning nobody will be talking about this in 3 years.

You make a very valid point but Miami isn't the Miami they used to be and FSU really got very good again within the last 3 years. As far as National titles go, they've won a combined 3 since 1999 and FSU won 99 and Miami 2000...so in the last 13 years they've won a combined 1. FSU is a very tough OOC game but Miami really isn't anymore

So in addition to a very tough annual OOC game with FSU, permanent West foe LSU and an SEC conference slate, who else should UF schedule OOC?

The Packers?

from doing a little research he had an impressive offense at csu this yr his qb grayson was 5th in passing yards(32/6 TD/INT) in D-1 and this kid is one of the 3 finalists for the biletnikoff award along with amari cooper and kevin white
leads D-1 in recieving yds and TD's

now this is what we have needed at fla for a long time a coach that knows what he's doing on that side of the ball

Glad you asked the question! How about playing Oregon back to back, Oklahoma back to back, Alabamba every year, instead of Georgia Southern (sorry I forgot they smoked some gator meat), and not worrying about the Packers.

They play FSU back to back to back and LSU back to back to back, as he said.

Thats not much different than our OU/UO and Bama matchup.
