Sure it could, but not at 10 of 14 schools in the SEC. His point was next year is a make or break year for CCM, and the decisions of those two players greatly affect that. Probably not the case for Grant, though if they fall on their face next year, his seat is likely warm. Only Mark Fox, Tony Barbee, and Frank Haith (more for NCAA reasons than on-court production) are on shakier ground than Martin based on next season's results. Martin should have more talent at his disposal than any of them if Stokes and McRae return. If they don't, I'm not sure he gets more than one more season (his 4th) to make something happen of relevance in the postseason.
Since nobody in their right mind will be expecting the competition for the SEC to involve any teams other than Kentucky and Florida, all CCM has to do is make sure that his team gets into the tournament next season. If he does that, he keeps his job.
Wish Stokes and McRae were not flirting but Golden was. The quicker Golden goes and plays in Turkey, the better.

I agree with that...however the OP was basically criticizing Martin for not being up stokes and McRae's a$$ since the season ended and I don't get that. It's common for the coaches to attend the final four, most do, Martin was doing what's a common practice yet is being criticized for it because he has some guys on his team considering going pro.
We'd be in a bad spot if Golden just up and left, he may not be the best but he's about all we've got. Funny thing is there's a lot of teams that'd take a 3 year starter, senior PG on their team in a heartbeat.
I'm not convinced that Tennessee would not be better off without Golden, just as I was not convinced that KU would not have been better off this year without Elijah Johnson. It seemed to KU that the only option was Johnson, but I think that Tharpe gave KU better minutes at point every single time he was in the game. You do not necessarily need a scorer at point. You need a guy that can penetrate and has the mentality to penetrate, but not necessarily the mentality of a shooter. Further, when that guy has a mentality that is all over the f-ing place (Golden, Johnson) you end up with a guy who ends up making boneheaded decisions that cost you games.
I think it would behoove Martin to experiment with starting Lopez or Moore at point and moving Golden to the wing.

Who has him projected in the first round in 2014? Everything I've seen is late second round.
One of the more reputable sites...
DraftExpress: Mock Draft
Has McRae 1st round, Stokes early 2nd round.
