McRae going PRO?

Scout feedback is already old news. I am assuming he hasn't met or talked to stokes about a decision because that is what I just read, and I think that is odd. Jmo, but the season has been over for a month, and you better have a backup plan in place.

The new process has a lot to do with that...players can't request and receive evaluation until first week of April. Most who are considering the draft will seek this evaluation and wait until they get it before having a meeting.

I actually think it sounded really good in that Stokes is logically weighing his options. They only part that didn't sound so good to me is the part where he is wanting to know how we will use him. He wanted some definite idea of how Coach Martin will use a big man. This was the hangup about Austin Nichols not coming since he could not be convinced how UT would use him.

That wasn't the hangup, after his OV they felt good about how he'd be used, the hangup was he didn't wanna leave home.

I do agree though the article doesn't sound that bad, hell their predictions sound like they ultimately think he willr return.

He returned home to Memphis, what do you think he was being told? The fact he came back, still hasn't declared and is gonna sit down with Zo is a good sign IMO.

Most coaches haven't, they were just on spring break. Most coaches have a meeting after the final four with their team.

This is true, they are actually at the final four. Im sure this is something that will happen when they get back, maybe tomorrow. I expect all this to come out in the wash in the next couple of days.

Come on now. The season has been over for less than three weeks; not a month. Martin, I'm sure is at the Final Four like every other major coach in America, and has been since Friday at least.

The time to discuss these things has been set for this week for some time now.

Martin deserves criticism for several things, but not*in this case. He's handling it like most every other coach.

That could be possible, but they are coming off of spring break and he just coached that All-Star game. I'm not making excuses for him I'm just saying could be coming up for him to talk with them all.

gotcha. I didn't know that.

I still would be in constant conversation with both kids since the end of the season, particularly making sure whomever is in their ear is giving them good information. I hope he is doing that.

I see your point. But I also think he should be in constant contact with them and discussing everything, rather than waiting for one sitdown and get surprised.

How would we know that he isnt in constant talks with them? Its not like these guys are number one draft picks, they are borderline 2nd round at best. It will be the eleventh hour before anything comes out, and he should be spending that time triyng to talk them out of doing something stupid.

Maybe I misread, but I thought it was reported that he hasn't talked with CM since the end of the season. That's the only reason I assumed.
And it is monday afterall and I stepped on a dead rat my dog brought in at 7 AM this morning so my whole day has been off.

I agree with this, and especially in Stokes case. He went home to Memphis over spring break, I can only imaging some of the things people were telling him.

Dumb isn't the right word, was Hopson dumb? He had less of a chance then either of these 2 guys of being drafted, but he turned out ok in finding a job I'd say.

Depends on what their goals are. I would think both Stokes and McRae have the goal of playing in the NBA not on some team in Turkey. At least I hope so

Possibly, or maybe McRae's biggest goal is to have a good paying job that he can support his son with, regardless of NBA or overseas.

Most coaches don't have two borderline draftable players whose decisions will determine the trajectory of their coaching careers.

Really? Most school have at least 2 guys who are draftable or borderline draftable players.

I'd say 10 of the 14 SEC schools at least, so not sure what you're trying to say.

I think his point lay in the second half of thst sentence and not so much the first half. CCM's immediate future likely rests on the decision of those two players. They bolt, and he'll be scrambling.

If they did (and IMO both will be back) then CCM would be updating his resume.

Can't the same be said for many programs though was more my point...say Anthony Grant at Bama. The future of players at Alabama could decide his immediate future...

Sure it could, but not at 10 of 14 schools in the SEC. His point was next year is a make or break year for CCM, and the decisions of those two players greatly affect that. Probably not the case for Grant, though if they fall on their face next year, his seat is likely warm. Only Mark Fox, Tony Barbee, and Frank Haith (more for NCAA reasons than on-court production) are on shakier ground than Martin based on next season's results. Martin should have more talent at his disposal than any of them if Stokes and McRae return. If they don't, I'm not sure he gets more than one more season (his 4th) to make something happen of relevance in the postseason.
