One of the poorest planned/coached efforts I have seen since, well last year.

Florida is a completely inept mess and they STILL hung 31 on us. If our offense could have moved the ball even a little bit we would have seen CBJ signature win. Even though after seeing how bad Florida is right now I would struggle to have called it a signature win, but rather a gift wrapped in a pretty bow.

Serious question to all the older Vol fans.... Is this the worst situation UT has ever faced at the QB position.

You know what they say, If you have four quarterbacks, you dont have one.

GO VOLS!

I'd say so on the QB position.. Florida is headed for 3 or 4 losses at the very least.. It was definitely a winnable game.. Only problem is, we're a worse mess than they are..

We don't have depth. Other teams are going to score on you when you lack depth. This is a simple concept. Lack of talent means a lack of performance. Lack of performance means a lack of wins.

The thing that makes me so sad and disappointed is not THAT we lost, but HOW we lose. We dont even look like an FCS team right now. I have no clue where Derek Dooley got these awful players. We had the chance of a century to beat Florida. And we may never have that same chance ever again. Florida will damn sure be back and Im sure it will happen when Tennessee is back, which means more losing to Florida. We blew the chance of a lifetime.

Florida will lose at least 5 games. They still have to play Georgia, USC, and FSU. I'm sure there are other teams that can beat this sorry team too.

You must be 12 years old...chance of a lifetime.

It was a chance, but that is a little far?

I actually think we made Florida better by injuring driskel. Their offense has new life.

Older Vol here. There were times pre-Majors that the QB's were not playmakers. However, they generally had an RB or a WR that could do special things with the ball that they could feature to help out the situation. Not seeing much of that this season so far.

Let's cut to the chase. Butch is going with his system and trying to convert players to it that have been trained in other systems of Kiffin and Dools previously. Rewiring guys takes time. Butch could have adapted his system to the players he has, but I am sure Hart gave him the nod to do it this way when he was first hired. I think as the season continues you will see significant improvement. Two steps forward, one step back kind of progress. It will be 2015 before you see the results you want to see in the W/L column.

If you're implying that CBJ is the same as CDD, you're wrong.

I cant believe Peterman had a better practice week that Worley. Sorry. I think Butch Jones buckled under the pressure to change QBs and he already knew he was going to Peterman. It was a busch league move to leave Peterman in as long as he did. With the opportunity of a lifetime staring him in the face.

CBJ is proving to be one stubborn SOB, but not in a good way.

I was at the game...Tennessee with a good QB would have won the game. If you have a system that the QB cannot run properly and you have no backup to fill in then you are going to get the result...we had crucial turnovers that killed drives and took points off the board. We should have had three more scores...our WRs are real young and have problems catching the FB. The passing of our QBs is the poorest I have seen since I have been following the Vols in the 60s. Not sure what the problem is...might be mechanics...or WRs not running the right routes...I counted the seconds that our QBs were holding the ball and it was 5-6 secs...then there was pressure and the passes were hurried and off target...overall we are not that bad a team...we just have no skilled players on offense other than some of our linemen. Need a QB that can run read option like Murphy did for the Gators...

I agree that talent is the issue by far. My concern is that a lot of people kept saying that Dooley had top 20 recruiting classes and we are on our way. Where is that now? This proved what I was thinking that if we want to compete then we need to be top 3 for a few years.

I'm 35. I have NEVER seen Florida play that badly. Even when Ron Zook was coaching. Yes, we will never have another chance as easy as that one against Florida.

95% of the posts I saw last week were for Peterman to start. Now 95% of the post I see said I told you we should have not started Peterman.- not saying you are one, just an opening

Or Peterman did have the best week of practice and Butch was giving him the opportunity he said he was going to. But nah, your coward scenario is much more likely.

99% of MY posts said that this QB situation is the worst anyone can remember at UT. I said send them all packing. Start a freshman and get him real game experience cause are not winning more than 4-5 games this year now that I have seen this offense.

Our QB situation is a mess and one of the starters in sitting on the bench waiting to redshirt.
I predict peterman transfers after the season. We will be stuck with the wounded duck, Worley bird for another year.
Get use to this kind if production from the QB rest if the year.
Don't understand how we could have made Florida backup look so good.
Happens all the time, 2001 SEC champ game comes quickly to mind, so it's not just the coaching staff.
If peterman could have passed the ball to the right players, we would have had a chance to win.
Peterman was not ready to make his first start, at the Swamp!!

True, the players are bad. The players were bad last year. But all I kept hearing was that UT just needs a coach that can coach, unlike Dooley. They were so high on CBJ. But apparently he cant take a bad situation and manage it better. The Vols really look as bad if not worse than last year before the players quit.

One of the arguments last year was that "all the guys need are some real coaches"

I'd like to see some consistency on VN

I've always stated that the D won't win due to lack of speed and the offensive line has no ability to run block.

The difference here is the players didn't quit, they kept fighting til the end. What spoiled yesterday was Butch somehow thinking Peterman was ready to start. I laid low in here all week because simply based in in game performances, I thought starting Peterman was a bad idea and I saw how the few in that camp were being treated. It cost us that game IMO. I think Worley takes those early Florida mistakes and at minimum we go to the half up 13-3.

Peterman looked shaky from the start as his first possession was near the North End Zone and he was having trouble hearing and making the reads...Not sure Worley would have done better in that situation...Tennessee just needs a QB who is mobile and can run the read option correctly...you know someone like a Taj Boyd or RG3...
