Meet the new boss..... same as the old boss

Jumping off the boat a little bit, these Defesne gets NO HELP from the offense. They seem to tackle, pursuit and match up better. They have terrfying depth in secondary.
As far as the QB this is pretty bad no sense in trying to act likes its not. Peytons freshman year seemed bleak for awhile till he went off, but he had some stinkers.
Casey Clausens freshman year was pretty ugly too.

Peterman in the game. There's no question in my mind, at least, about that. It was obvious from the start that the offense was out-of-synch and wasn't going to get in synch. Jones should have recognized it too; instead, he stayed with Peterman and--despite the fact that florida was pretty horrible in the first half--we go into the half 10 points down because the offense was inept. 5 yards passing. He should have pulled Peterman early. He gets paid a lot of money to make tough decisions and good decisions--and beyond that, we are a team that has NO margin of error by players OR coaches.

There's a lot of truth in this. I'm sure Jones didn't want to look like he's got his thumb on the panic button. But you've got to look at the situation at hand.

You're in this game at 10-7 but that late turnover made it 17-7 at the half. That was a huge hurdle for this team to overcome.

I'm sure Jones thought Peterman gave UT the best chance to win, and who are we to argue with him. It just didn't work out and by the time Worley was put in, it was too late.

Mizzou has talent, and a solid coach. Don't understand why people think that they should have been an easy win. If the O would have capitalized on the D stopping them in the 4th by just getting us a FG we would have won that game. So that wasn't on the D as much as people want to blame. And Vandy...really. did u not see how it was over that point and Bray pretty much threw that game??? Some of yalls arguments are just so mindless. So if CBJ gets beat by Mizzou this year r u going to think they are better now??

Thinking that switching coaching doesn't have an effect is just naive. Smh

If UT loses to Mizzou this year most won't automatically think Mizzou is better now. We will just all think, and rightfully so, that Dooley left CBJ with a depleted roster and losing mentality, both of which he's trying desperately to overcome.

Most, I believe, will also think that Dooley was the common denominator in both losses this year and last....after his team pretty much, once again, gave the game away in the second half, and of course, his awful decision to take a knee and rely on the worst defense in school history on a short field in OT. Just sayin.

Been watching football for a long time. Rarely do first year starters come in and do well from the first game. As I've mentioned many times before, Peyton was not good as a Freshman - Stewart looked better. During Championship year, Tee Martin was completely lost early in the season on passing plays. Cut ran the ball repeatedly, ate up clock, set up the defense for a few well timed passing attempts, and punted when necessary.

He developed Tee as the season went along and by late in the season Tee was killing it.

Worley may or may not turn out to be the guy, but none of you know that after 3.5 games. The one thing we have seen is he is not prone to turn the ball over as often as most young QBs - that's HUGE!

The thing is, in order to allow development, you have to rely more on the running game and defense and Special teams.

If I were critiquing Butch ( who I think is going to be the savior of the program), it would be that he has not placed the bulk of the load on the OL and RBs early this season. ...and he got a little trigger happy on the Peterman start.

"we are a team that has NO margin of error by players OR coaches" - seriously?

# plays Y x {# players P x player actions-per-play A} + HC/pos.coaches decisions-per-play D ... Yx{PxA}+D = 38,234 opportunities for error per game

And we have NO error margin on our 19,117? Man, that's tough..

I think your username says it all.

An astute diamond in the rough there sir. :hi:

Patience is a virtue. It just doesn't carry over for coaching staffs apparently.
