Meet the new boss..... same as the old boss

Older Vol here. There were times pre-Majors that the QB's were not playmakers. However, they generally had an RB or a WR that could do special things with the ball that they could feature to help out the situation. Not seeing much of that this season so far.

Let's cut to the chase. Butch is going with his system and trying to convert players to it that have been trained in other systems of Kiffin and Dools previously. Rewiring guys takes time. Butch could have adapted his system to the players he has, but I am sure Hart gave him the nod to do it this way when he was first hired. I think as the season continues you will see significant improvement. Two steps forward, one step back kind of progress. It will be 2015 before you see the results you want to see in the W/L column.

Quoting you so the 2nd/3rd page sees this

How bad can these true freshmen QBs be? I mean can they really be worse than Peterman/Worley? I say just call it a season and get these guys some valuable playing time for the future.

It's really hard to start a freshman qb. Yeah, we did it with Manning, Casey and Since, but look at all the elite talent they had around them. Ferguson and Dobbs don't have that luxury.

Peterman is not a D1 QB. I hope that the transfers and frees up a scholly. Worley came in and gave us a lift but he is not the answer. To be short, we cant win with either guy. Hopefully South Alabama will give us a chance for one or both freshmen to get their feet wet.
I say put one of them in and suffer this year to get ready for next year. Help is on the way with some speed and skill in the recruiting class.

I cant believe Peterman had a better practice week that Worley. Sorry. I think Butch Jones buckled under the pressure to change QBs and he already knew he was going to Peterman. It was a busch league move to leave Peterman in as long as he did. With the opportunity of a lifetime staring him in the face.

CBJ is proving to be one stubborn SOB, but not in a good way.

You have no clue what your talking about if you think CBJ is the same as CDD or if you think he made the QB change because of fan pressure. He did it to try to spark offense. The only problem I have with that is not taking Peterman out sooner.

However, they have the best O line ( supposedly) they are going to have in their 4 years. Give them a shot while they have some blocking.

I'm a huge fan of Butch, but even by just watching the games I knew starting Peterman was a bad idea. Leaving him in that long was just horrible. It was a horrid decision and unfortunately it all lies at Jones' feet.

If that o-line is the best they will see in four years, we are never turning it around.

Didn't I read on here that we only have 3 players left on team from Kiffin class? Almost entire class and their depth and strength training gone. CBJ doesn't have much to work with. He is probably saying to himself "why in the h3ll did I ever leave Cincy?

Florida will lose at least 5 games. They still have to play Georgia, USC, and FSU. I'm sure there are other teams that can beat this sorry team too.

There's no freaking way Florida will lose 5 games. Come on dude. They lose no more than 2- 3... tops.

Agree with everything you say except your last sentence. He had to keep the kid in to see what he could do, see if he had any moxy to see if he could handle adversity, and to see if he could settle down and get some kind of rhythm. IMHO, if he kept him in too long it was no more than a possession. I had no problem with when he took him out.

It might not have been a good idea but I don't agree with some saying he did it because of fan pressure.

I don't think it was a good idea but I don't think he did it because of fan pressure.

I have no clue why he did it either, I just know (and I have the text messages to prove it), I lost all hope when Peterman was announced the starter. Game film alone should have been enough. I really thought the announcement of the qb position being opened up was just a threat to scare Worley into being more aggressive.

Guys that is the best D-Line we will see all year. Bama will be the only overall Defense that will be as good as that one. Peterman was only really responsible for 2 of the 4 turnovers. The other 2 would have happened no matter who was qb.

It's hard to go into a game with a plan on D and then have to basically scrap it to try to match up with another type of QB. The best thing for us would have been if their guy never got hurt. He had a bum wheel and wouldn't have been a mobile threat, making our job easier.

They gave it too us 3 times inside their 40. We failed in taking advantage of what was handed to us

That's not all because of their d. Its partially to do with play calling on O and having the right personnel in to give us the best chance to capitalize in those situations

I was also one who questioned the move, but that does not mean he's anything like Dooley.

What I saw as a vol fan today. Peterman should have been jerked after 1st qtr. He got shooked. Play calling bad where is screens. Short passes and pig should get the ball more he is a play maker. Defensive backfield breakdown letting big plays take place. I saw some bright spots some players played well. TN just don't have the playmakers and depth. Butch doing next he can with what he has.
