Meet the new boss..... same as the old boss

Florida may be a mess, but they have a very good defense. In the SEC, if you've got a good defense, you've got a chance.

I remember Bama '93 having to use a WR at QB. They had a great defense and ended up beating Miami for the NC.

One of the poorest planned/coached efforts I have seen since, well last year.

Florida is a completely inept mess and they STILL hung 31 on us. If our offense could have moved the ball even a little bit we would have seen CBJ signature win. Even though after seeing how bad Florida is right now I would struggle to have called it a signature win, but rather a gift wrapped in a pretty bow.

Serious question to all the older Vol fans.... Is this the worst situation UT has ever faced at the QB position.

You know what they say, If you have four quarterbacks, you dont have one.

GO VOLS!

I like how the QB situation loses the game and it's the staff's entire coaching who is to blame.

Didn't I read on here that we only have 3 players left on team from Kiffin class? Almost entire class and their depth and strength training gone. CBJ doesn't have much to work with. He is probably saying to himself "why in the h3ll did I ever leave Cincy?

During the Oregon game, the guy calling the game on ABC said we just have two. He put much of the blame on Kiffin rather than Dooley for TN's present situation.:cray:

I cant believe Peterman had a better practice week that Worley. Sorry. I think Butch Jones buckled under the pressure to change QBs and he already knew he was going to Peterman. It was a busch league move to leave Peterman in as long as he did. With the opportunity of a lifetime staring him in the face.

CBJ is proving to be one stubborn SOB, but not in a good way.

I kinda think he did it more to wake Worley up a bit. Hope it works.

Emotional post. Try thinking before you get in over your head.

I think CBJ starts Ferguson in the South Alabama game but didn't want to put him in the Florida game for obvious reasons. Should Ferguson compete at a level that warrants, he may get time in upcoming games as the year progresses. Peterman is probably out of the rotation for the foreseeable future, if he ever plays another down. It will be between Worley and Ferguson in my opinion.

Following UT football for over 40 years, I'd have to agree that this is the worst team overall that I've seen. Is this the worst QB, I'm not sure as we've had some pretty poor QB's through the years.

There were predictions aplenty that people would jump off the CBJ bandwagon after the Ore/FLA/GA/UA/USC beatings were absorbed. Sad how we're only 40% through that gauntlet and it's already happening.

Me, I'm looking for a big win Saturday and I still say we will steal one from Richt or Spurrier. 7-5 baby!

This could be used for the last 3 yrs. So this site's bi-polar meds needs to come in pronto!!

Geez dooley had to start the season with a true freshman and juco transfer. With a huge player deficit, and a bunch of off the field issues. For goodness sake that's a worse QB situation than we r in now.

CBJ didn't have this team ready to come in and take advantage of a UF team that played like crap. They were pretty much begging us to take the game and CBJ wasn't ready for it. The guy has limited experience vs teams like UF and the rest of the SEC, so we need to be patient with his learning curve. I don't care how many championships, solo or shared, in the lower leagues he has, he's probably never faced the level of competition he has to face back to back.

If anything the change to a new coach and new scheme was what didn't allow this team to capitalize on Sat. So yes, imo, Dooley would have had this team better prepared to play on Sat than CBJ did, and even if they weren't better they could have had a shot at a win that was being tee'd up. Consistency alone of having a OC like Chaney would have had us in a better position instead of a team trying to learn a new scheme. Our OL isn't looking very well imo and they r hurt by not having a 2nd straight year with Pittman. Etc etc.

At the end of the Day CBJ isn't the first coach to take over a new team. 4th game in and we faced a team that couldn't get it together, and we couldn't capitalize. Not saying CBJ isn't going to do well with time, but this fan base doesn't understand that. He won't survive the Legion of the Miserable if it turns on him.

I want the Vols to start doing well just as much anyone, but if I said it once I'll say it a million times, this fan base will bite it's nose off to spite it's face.

I haven't heard any mention of WWII, Nazis, or Bonzai trees. Untie the noose and sit the bottle down....this staff is nothing at all like the collection of @$$hats we had with CDD.

Dooley got spanked by Vandy and lost to Missouri. This team could have stayed home and been better prepared.

Jones made a few decisions that made me scratch my head, but changing schemes/offense had nothing to do with bad QB and WR play to go along with average backs (not bashing the backs I like them but face it they aren't studs).

If Bray Hunter and Patterson stayed they would have spanked Florida by 3 TDs and lost to Oregon by 2 scores...

The point is we are going to be a bad year no matter who is the coach.

verdict is still out, it looks though he will need great players coming out of high school to do anything. so far not to impressed at all with the coaching. it has been poor at best.

I'm 35. I have NEVER seen Florida play that badly. Even when Ron Zook was coaching. Yes, we will never have another chance as easy as that one against Florida.

College football is cyclical. Florida will be even worse than now at some point.

Mizzou has talent, and a solid coach. Don't understand why people think that they should have been an easy win. If the O would have capitalized on the D stopping them in the 4th by just getting us a FG we would have won that game. So that wasn't on the D as much as people want to blame. And Vandy...really. did u not see how it was over that point and Bray pretty much threw that game??? Some of yalls arguments are just so mindless. So if CBJ gets beat by Mizzou this year r u going to think they are better now??

Thinking that switching coaching doesn't have an effect is just naive. Smh

I think the problems largely stemmed from starting Peterman. Not saying Worley would have done much better throwing the ball, but we would not have had four straight turnovers! No one expected to win this one anyway, but man it really hurt to have Florida try to give us the game and then choke it away.

Going forward, Worley should be the starter until proven otherwise. I understand Coach Jones wanting to try Peterman, but dammit he "cudda shudda" waited to bring him off the bench in the swamp. If he wanted to start him that bad, wait until this games week.

Worley at this point gives us the best chance to win vs. USA so put him back in. Ferguson or Dobbs can come off the bench if that's needed, and/or do mop up time. Try to develop one of them, but be patient and stick with Worley for AS LONG AS IT TAKES FOR ONE OF THEM TO EMERGE....which might be never, or not this season.

Come on guys, don't trash Jones yet! Give the guy a chance to bring in his own guys and truly put his system in place. I have hope for the future.

I have never seen us have a winning record since becoming a fan, have no real link to Tennessee, and have not visited Knoxville yet and I still watch every game all the way through. Gotta stick with your team through thick and thin. Things will get better.

Peterman in the game. There's no question in my mind, at least, about that. It was obvious from the start that the offense was out-of-synch and wasn't going to get in synch. Jones should have recognized it too; instead, he stayed with Peterman and--despite the fact that florida was pretty horrible in the first half--we go into the half 10 points down because the offense was inept. 5 yards passing. He should have pulled Peterman early. He gets paid a lot of money to make tough decisions and good decisions--and beyond that, we are a team that has NO margin of error by players OR coaches.
