UM needs this W a hell of a lot more than UT, even trying to argue otherwise would make you look ridiculous.
Believe what you want. Memphis gets the soft, doughy C-USA to rip through. UT has the last SEC berth (assuming the SEC gets 5 and not 4) to contend with Bama, Arkansas, etc. A loss to Memphis, at home no less, when UT is more than suspect on the road would be almost fatal to your tourney hopes.
Has Josh proved he can "rip" through the C-USA?
And right now UT is projected as the 4th team in not 5th cap'n.
A loss to UT, and 4-5 losses the rest of the way and you'll be forced to do something in C-USA tourney.
Your RPI is in the hundreds, and with no other highly rated teams after Tennessee on your schedule it'll be hard to raise it. Tennessee on the flip side is sitting pretty at about 40 this AM. Definitely like where we sit a hell of a lot more than where you're sitting.

Yes. He's now won back to back C-USA tourneys and he dominated the C-USA last season, with pretty much the same team (one year younger) and in a better league.
UT is projected as 5th, slightly edging out Bama, "Captain". kenpom.com subscription
LOL, and the RPI argument arises. Only a matter of time.
Your expected record is 22-9 according to RPIFORECAST.COM which puts your RPI projected at about 60. That's not exactly breathing easy territory heading into your conference tourney, one loss and you're likely on the outside looking in.
You really think Memphis is in better position to make the dance right now than Tennessee?
Both teams are 8-3, UM has 20 games remaining, UT has 19. Tennessee goes 12-7 the rest of the way they're likely dancing. UM goes 13-7 the rest of the way and you're likely in the NIT.
Rest easy everyone, the RPI will take care of everything.
Colorado is sure going to enjoy their 1-2 seed in the dance this year; I mean, their RPI is 4th, afterall.
Puh-lease.
