Memphis Megaclass?

Hat, Have you heard any rumors that Self is now making a play for Wall?
All I've really heard is the story about Kansas self reporting the contact between Bill and Wall after a game last week. I'm sure KU would love to get in the race, but I just can't see them leapfrogging both Baylor and Memphis to get him. I have heard rumblings that Baylor may hire the other Clifton brother, Brian, in an attempt to cinch up Wall.

Ok, thanks. Seems like more than a few schools are willing to self-report violations in an effort to gain Wall's attention. Duke did the same thing last month when Chris Collins scouted him during the dead period.

Hat, im hearing small talk (very small) about Cal going to Bama, have you heard anything on this? This city would be in a meltdown mode if that happened. TIA...

Bama already has a commitment from the 2010 class and guess where he is from? Memphis, TENNESSEE! A four-star receiver, non-the-less! ROLL TIDE! You guys are in for a long, dark and bumpy ride.:lolabove:

Sweet...So, what is he going to play PG. PF. G. or what?

Not near as long or as bumpy a ride as a troll too stupid to recognize the difference between a basketball thread and one devoted to football.

Hat, I am not sure if Simpkins was under scholarship this year but I am wondering if Cal was somewhat clearing scholarship room for next year. lol

I heard there were multiple cases of breaking curfew by Matt.

Because one guy from Memphis wanted to get paid?

I guess this elephant can't tell the difference between basketball and football. Troll.

Cal isn't going anywhere. He is paid like a SEC football coach to lead a loaded team in a league thats just about equal to the OVC. He basically gets an automatic bid to the tourny every year, he has no reason to leave.

Trust me, I know all of that. I was wanting to ask someone in the know and that knows Cal personally his thoughts, that's all. Like I said it was just small talk and I would be mega shocked if it happen, but I just don't see it because of the reason you bring up. :hi:

I am sure that the Bammers would love to have Cal. But I could never see Cal leave for a place like Alabama. He runs the show in Memphis...and it is a basketball school. I think he has it made in Memphis and will stay put.

Agreed.. The man does have it made here, but he has put blood, sweat and tears into the program. I still say if he wanted to run for Mayor of Memphis he would win hands down. :)

Seems to be the only person capable of beating King Willie (other than the new term limit). Not even sure if Camp Cal could fix it though.

Back to the topic...Cousins has a small interest in Rice now, but Memphis is still #1 on his list.

I know Memphis has been big in basketball before. But Cal has taken it to new heights it seems. I know that the UT Memphis game is becoming a huge and intense rivarly...but when we aren't playing I pull for the Tigers. It is great for the state of Tennessee to have these basketball powers!

Memphis REALLY needs Cousins. I have heard that the Will Coleman kid is "Dorsey-like" in the way he plays and athleticism. Tigers still need more beef in the trees next year.

Yeah Memphis could use Cousins, he should be a good one. Wesley Witherspoon return to practice today after having surgery and he looked good (should be ready to go in about a week), so that will help Memphis. CBS Sports was there at practice doing a story about Tyreke being in the running for freshman of the year.

Just a bit off topic but anyways... I went to Cal steakhouse tonight and had a chance to talk to Cal for awhile and he told me Anderson and Dozier are 130-13 while at Memphis. That's a hell of a record I would have to say..

Pretty much owns the city , probably the only one that could take on King Willie and win.
