wow...lets deal with some of this hate being spewed by a MTSU/UT fan...

"Miami? As in 6-10 in the A-SIS-SY? Marquee? lol"

Miami won 21 games last season while playing in the ACC...their final RPI was 73.

Miami should be a little better...and a top 75 road win is a big RPI booster...plus, they're a ACC school.

"It is no big deal to me when UT beats tiger high since UT wins with regularity."

Bruce had our number...but with him gone...it's a new ball game...the jury is still out on CM and Josh.

"tiger high kid coach does not want to play UT."

Memphis' "kid coach" has already made it to the NCAA tourney...and won his conference tourney...both things Coach Martin cannot claim in his 3 year career...his major accomplishment is a NIT second round...something Josh did his first season as head coach.

Seriously?!? You are going to compare coaches relative success as if they are on an equal playing field. I'm sorry, but EVERYONE considered Pastner's NIT appearance as a flop coaching job. Taking UM out of the NCAA tourney and into the NIT is a BAD thing. Taking MO ST from a single digit win program to an NIT 2nd round is an accomplishment... Hahaha, all this heat is making you UM fans a little more delusional than *normal*

Hold up. That 2009-2010 Memphis team was nothing to write home about. It was full of juniors and seniors, but no real talent behind Elliot Williams. Pierre Henderson-Niles was our starting 5 man. He makes Brian Williams look like Glen Davis.

I wonder what the UT fans will think of Kudzu when he fails to even make the NIT this year. I guess they'll sit around and pout b/c "little brother in the west" has managed to equal TN's greatest hoops accomplishment 6 times (never mind winning 3 of those elite 8 games)

here kitty kitty kitty lol oooo tiger high actually won the sunbelt or whatever conference they play in tournament??? impressive!

Let's compare how Cuonzo and tiger high kid coach (patsy is his name?) did against a common opponent last season.... seeing how they both have the same number of ncaa tournament wins....

CCM brought his team on the road to play the eventual NIT preseason champion, that was playing well at the time. CCM's team fought hard, lead at one point by 3, never trailed by more than 4 and lost by 4.

tiger high kid coach patsy brought his team to play the same team, same floor, with the NIT preseason champions slumping at the time. tiger high never led in the game and trailed by as many as .... 34 yes 34 points in a 20 point blowout.

These are the facts of the case, and they are undisputed.

that doesn't work...it's like saying Memphis beat Syracuse in 2003...and Syracuse won the NCAA Title...so clearly, Memphis is the Champion...

it doesn't work that way...some weeks you play well...some you don't...but the NCAA tourney is all that matters.

Memphis could go 0-31 during the regular season...4-0 in the CUSA tourney...6-0 in the NCAA tourney...and be National Champs...March is where it counts.

These tiger high fans are making me laugh with all the excuses as to why they haven't won under Pastner. CCM's coaching job at Mizzou St. is 100x more impressive than anything Pastner has done while at Memphis. All JP has managed to do is have great recruiting classes followed by mediocre seasons. He couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag, and CCM almost beat UT last year with his squad. Heck, I hope JP stays a little longer so you guys can continue being our whipping post.

and no, common opponents don't always tell you anything...i was at the Memphis v. Mississippi NIT game...they had better athletes...we had Elliot Williams...and that's it.

Schitzophrenia running rampant in this thread.

The long and short of it is, Memphis fans have little basis to take shots at CCM. UT fans have little basis to take shots at Pastner.

CCM is in the same boat Pastner was two years ago. Pastner had a tough go of it for 2 years. CCM is let with about the same talent at UT that Pastner was left with in Memphis in 2009, with the exception of the transfer of Elliot Williams. CCM has his work cut out for him over the next 2 seasons.

Will the UT faithful take a softer tact towards Pastner if CCM makes the the NIT (or, god forbid, the CBI) this season? They should.

Don't really feel like getting myself involved in the idiocy that is this thread. But comparing Martin's first years at Tennessee to Pastner's would be ridiculous. Martin has a much, much more difficult job in front of him.

If that's true, it's because of the tougher conference schedule. The teams really are comparable, outside of Elliot Williams. Do you guys play any significant OOC games besides Maui?

My comment was in reference to the NCAA sanctions we're likely to face. Our roster is terrible, although it should be decently comparable to Memphis. I'd also say it's alot easier to recruit to Memphis than Tennessee. Our schedule, is obviously more difficult.

UConn is the only other matchup I can think of.

Congrats on making it a game farther. Or have you? Were all of your final 4's erased?

Regardless, Tennessee's forte is football and they have won championships. Memphis is the mecca of basketball and they have 0 championships despite the cheating(that includes WWW). Amazing!!

Btw, doesn't Memphis have a losing record against Tennessee and basketball?? On top of both Calipari and Pastner trying to get out of playing Tennessee in basketball... It's unfortunate for your sake that basketball makes peanuts while football brings in the real cash. That's why your dumpy school needs Tennessee in football and can't back out of Tennessee showing them up on the court as well.

Memphis has made it farther in the NCAA tournament but they have as many championships and a losing record head to head. Tennessee could probably make it to the finals if they played in a trash conference and were handed a #1 seed for beating trash.
