Merry Christmas to the Politics Forum

Might I venture to ask why there are Christian Churches who are cancelling or limiting their services on Sunday because Sunday is Christmas?

I have a real problem with that and was appalled when the pastor announced they had moved the service to Saturday so people could spend time with their families on Sunday. Would have thought celebrating Christmas by having a church service would be the desire.

We won't be there Saturday and we'll be going to a service Sunday, just not there.

I feel the same way. Our pastor announced that we would have our Sunday morning service but the evening service would be cancelled so people could spend time with their familes.

We always do the Christmas Eve midnight service. We won't be going back to Church 8 hours later.

Umm... I thought nobody knew when he was born? Did os13 just pull that date out of his behind?

No Thrasher, The date comes from when the star in the east would have appeared and the Zoroastrian Priest, AKA Magi, Began their trip to bring gifts to the new born King.

We are not celebrating when He was born, we are celebrating that He was born. The actual date is irrelevant

just an FYI

Who is this "we" you speak of?
Forgive me, if as a Bond Slave of the Lord Jesus Christ, I choose to only remember the feast I've been instructed to in the Bible and not the incorporated pagan festivals of tree decoration.

Did everyone already know I am a Religious wackjob or is it a surprise to some of you?

I sit through an hour of sing-song at our local guilt house. I then go home and get drunk. Sound familiar? Go America!

I am not celebrating or worshiping a tree, I am celebrating a birth

I dont care if He was born on Halloween, the actual date is irrelevant

If the date is irrelevant, then why do you pay homage to pagan feasts by insisting that Christmas is still celebrated at the time and with the traditions of Saturnalia?

Why don't you personally celebrate it in February? July?

Not to me. I think its Awesome the Jesus was born and died during Pass Over. Considering what He was here to do.

I think you should worship God in what ever way you think is correct. I will do the same.

I don't think he personally set the holiday date. And why do you care so much that you go out of your way to criticize it?

But, the date is irrelevant, yes? Then, why not make sure to separate your God from 'false gods' as much as possible?

I don't think he personally set the holiday date. And why do you care so much that you go out of your way to criticize it?

The date is irrelevant; he can celebrate it whenever he wants. I am criticizing him right now, not the holiday.
