Merry Christmas to the Politics Forum

If the date is irrelevant, then why do you pay homage to pagan feasts by insisting that Christmas is still celebrated at the time and with the traditions of Saturnalia?

Why don't you personally celebrate it in February? July?

I wish I felt the need to apologize for the liturgical calendar. Unfortunately, I had very little input on its' development.

Oh yes, one must buy into a Christian Bureaucracy completely with its own liturgical calendar to be a proper Christian; don't want any of you Christians standing on principles...

there's no emoticon to indicate sarcasm or facetiousness

obviously it wasn't called Passover when it happened, but the way OS13 worded his post makes it sound that way

When Christ was born they were already calling it Pass Over as the Exodus occurred just a few years earlier.

It was referred to as such as early as the Twelfth Chapter of Exodus.

Ridiculous even for you. There are plenty of areas that I am willing to take a theological stand on regardless of what my particular local church or denomination's stance on the matter. Rewriting 1600 years of tradition over a silly date is not one of them.

You are getting all RainMan on us.

We always do the Christmas Eve midnight service. We won't be going back to Church 8 hours later.

We are big on the Christmas Eve service, but this year they are having just regular services at the normal times, just on Saturday. I don't get it.
