Half truth. "Religion" to the founders means different than what it means today. Primarily different denominations within Christianity. Throughout history, Christians and Jews have suffered the greatest persecution. The oppressed puritans(pilgrims) came to this land for freedom to worship Christ. This is the basis for which this nation is founded. This always has been a Christian nation, with Christian holidays, and laws to protect Christians. Sadly, this has rapidly been disappearing. Merry Christmas all.

The nation really wasn't founded on Christianity. The majority of the people living in America were Christian, sure. I find that more people get offended by Happy Holidays than Merry Christmas.

In fact I've never met anyone one who was offended by Merry Christmas but hear whining every year about Happy Holidays. Is comical that those same people swear it's the other way around.

You might want to study up on your history. Following the Revolution, Christmas was considered too British and wasn't even a popular holiday in the US until after the Civil War. It was made a federal holiday as a way to unite the broken country.
