Meyer tells recruit that he would die for him

That "thing" that is different is that in four years he won the SECE 3 times, the SECCG 2 times, and the national championship 2 times.

That is why people want to reach so hard to find a basis to criticize him. Its getting old.

We're not reaching. He's the only coach who I've seen cry multiple times. (Or is it cry once, and breakdown to the verge of tears at other times)

I think the story is a crock... I'm no fan of Meyer by ANY stretch but c'mon.... It just doesn't even SOUND like it'd be true.....

The fact that he is on top right now does make him more of a target but let's not pretend he doesn't give his detractors some of the ammo they go after him with.

I read most of this thread and it is my opinion that Lawrence Wright should be changed to Lawrence Wrong. That is all!!

Yep.

Meyer, Shariff Floyd and his coach are all liars.

The South Carolina blog guy, well that guy is the bastion of honesty and integrity.

Floyd's decision to go to UF instead of South Carolina had no bearing whatsoever on the blog guy's motive to directly contradict what the recruit and his coach said.

Well now you can leave. I hope you wind up in hell, but anywhere other than here would be good enough.

Give these gators a break.. You know how stupid their fanbase is! If they want to hang out over here, who can blame them? Seriously, I think pity is a more fitting emotion for a gator fan who lurks on a Vol site... Poor guys are just reaching out! Awww... Come shed your Tebow tears over here.
Did you know-
"Tebows do indeed have lachrymal glands and produce tears to lubricate the eyes. The fluid helps to clean the eye, lubricate the passage of the nictitating membrane across the eye's surface, and probably also helps to reduce bacterial growth. Tears are normally noticeable(.) only if the Tebow has been out of the water for a long time and the eyes begin to dry out."

Yet another Tebow reference having nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Some of you cats are obsessed with Tebow.

You guys are trying to be womanly douches?

Because according to some of the more respected posters here, that's what Urban Meyer is.

Womanly douche is a bit strong. No doubt a great coach but wears his emotions on his sleeves and is a bit on the dramatic side. Exit stage left.

It's funny how Vols and Gators fans are arguing when it's South Carolina fans who've started/fueled this rumor as well as the Kiffin gas-pumping rumor.. :glare:

I'm probably one of the few Vols fans that likes Meyer and actually respects him. And while the "God gave me a vision...I'd die for you!" stuff is tooo far fetched for me to believe, I do believe that Meyer and several other coaches use and abuse the impression that some recruits/families may have that they're going to play for Rev. Meyer and sending their kids to Camp Moral instead of college.

Inside all these rumors there's an inkling that fans have on a person's inner thoughts. Lots of Gamecocks fans and others thought Kiffin was dirty and didn't have a limit to his ego, so none of them doubted for an instance that he'd tell Alshon Jeffery the gas-pumping line. No doubt they, and Vols and other fans too, think Meyer milks the Capt. Nice Guy thing for all it's worth and isn't above doing what it takes to get a recruit. So when we hear it, we believe it. It's just part of being a fan.

The fact that Florida has won in the past years has nothing to do with my impression of Urban Meyer. The guy's a douchebag through and through. Winning or not he would irritate the hell out of me if he coached my team.

If your team was coming off consecutive 13-win seasons, 2 NCs in the past 4 years and a 5-game winning streak against your hated division rival, I'm guessing you'd be tolerant of whoever your coach was.

I've never had to deal with the type of homoeroticism that's existed within the Gator locker room, so I couldn't tell you.
