Major full team brawl in the Canes game. Several players ejected and tons of players throwing punches, helmets and kicking others. Typical Miami thugs! You've gotta see this fight..it was ugly!

Wow.

Coker has lost all control, as if he had any over those thugs anyway.

What an ugly scene.

Miami didn't even score more than a TD until about 9:15 left in the game, and then there was an ugly brawl.

Looks to me like FIU started it... Either way, this is what happens when you put a couple hundred football players from the state of Florida on the same field at the same time.

Watch it with that "thug" paintbrush, fellas.

It's a violent game....**** happens when you get 22 alpha male types on one field.

Anyone that doesn't think Miami is full of thugs, just has their head stuck somewhere outside the realm of reality.

So I guess our recent problems are just "happy accidents". Our innocent scamps aren't capable of such tomfoolery.:whistling:

.....The presence of thugs in Miami is not the point. We're talking about the football team. These are kids, they tend to do stupid things. Whether they are from Miami or Miami of Ohio. Football is an emotional sport and things like this will happen.

They are thugs, and I never said other teams didn't have their share.

The difference is that the whole mentality down in Miami is one of "that lifestyle".

I think Coker has a large part to do with it... Here's a write-up.

...yeah. visit the land where all 18 year old males carry ak-47's and have white pitbulls named "Chino" given to them upon graduation from the school of hard knocks.

Don't believe everything ESPN says.

Crew, I agree. Miami definitely has issues right now, but IMO it's best to reserve the moniker "thugs" for real thugs.

We're talking about the school that constantly has players arrested for drugs, rape and other crimes. Yes we have had our share of thugs like everyone else but Miami has a VERY good reputation about it.

Miami does have thugs. However, the first punches and kicks were pulled by FIU players. Then everyone went nuts.

Just returned from the OB/War Zone. Pure mahem. Larry Coker has the respect of his players in the same way Vanilla Ice has the respect of the rap community. That's what happens when you put the real "U" on the field with their wannabe neighbors from down the street. I will say this, in the unlikely event he doesn't make the NFL, Kenny Phillips has a real future as a boxer.

Did you all see the Miami cat run in with his helmet off and tomahawk the FIU player on the head? That's not thug? Sorry, but that is INEXCUSABLE. He should never play college ball again. He could have broken a kid's c-spine, and if he had found another player with HIS helmet off, he could have killed somebody. That is not an exaggeration.

They have a reputation for it... Who doesn't have a rep for this kind of stuff now. You could apply that first sentence to almost every High-profile D-1 football program. Nebraska, Va tech, Southern Cal....it goes on and on.

I can't wait until D-Mo makes an awesome hit and gives his signature scowl to the camera so we can dismiss him as just another "thug".

I have the following observations as I look at today's scores:

1. Putting two teams from the city of Miami on the field at the same time is a really bad idea.
2. The next time Adrian Peterson's father sees him play, it will be on a Sunday in 2007.
3. The Era of Orgeron is upon us.
4. Being one who believes all luck in sports evens out, I think that Bob Stoops is now paying for all the good fortune he enjoyed his first couple of years at OU.
5. Larry Coker is done. You can't have a scene from "Gangs of New York" on the field if you're not winning big.
6. I guess Greg Schiano gave Vol Nation board favorite Paul Johnson a bit of a lesson today.
7. It's going to be a very busy hiring season in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area.
8. Thank God we're going to be spared all the whining about the possibility of an undefeated SEC team being left out of the BCS title game.
9. Michigan is very, very solid.
10. Athens, GA in '06 is now officially Knoxville, TN circa '05.

As usual, Hat, your observations are right on. Especially #1, 2, and 10. Did you get out alive?

I agree... THAT idiot should never be allowed to say the word "football" until he is 30. I just take offense to broad statements that suggest that all of the players form that area and on that team are nothing but thugs.

It's irresponsible and errant.

Of all the things I thought I was going to have to own up to tonight.

I admit . . . I didn't think they'd be able to hold the triple option down like that.

Doc, there were a couple of guys on each side who used that maneuver. I don't know which one the camera caught, but he wasn't the only one.

Oh, let's see -- both teams cleared the benches, coaches trying (unsuccessfully) to thrwart the riot, cops on the field. . . .but all in all, nothing that you haven't seen on UFC. Body-slams, head-stomps, and -- oh wait let me correct myself -- a NEW MOVE: The helmet-in-hand tomahawk to the back of an unsuspecting player's head!
