I reakon that is the end of Coker, and a serious serious blow to Miami's recruiting.

Wow. I just flipped on the TV and saw the Miami debacle. I thought I was watching a scene from Braveheart for a second.

Hat, you are absolutely right: Coker's done. Half of the Miami team should be expelled.

There must've been at least 40 paroll violations commited in that game tonight =)

If you can't beat 'em, try to outlaw 'em. That's an interesting way of thinking LG.

Looks like Miami's philosophy now is: If you can't beat'um, beat the crap outta them!:lolabove:

Miami will still get the recruits. Beaches, sun, babes, money and drugs. What more can a recruit ask for?

The U will be fine. The state of Florida produces such a huge wealth of serious talent that I doubt UF, FSU or Miami will ever hit a decline again.

Let me get this straight. You are comparing a fight where players threw other players around, stomped on other's heads and used helmets as weapons, to a guy making a play and celebrating that?

You have a very distorted view of reality. :whistling:

No and thank you for completely missing the point.

A broad statement was made that all players from that area tend to have a "thug" mentality. I simply suggested that it was hypocrisy to slight players from that area when we just happen to have one starting in our secondary who we seem to like because of his intensity and aggression.

Is he a thug? Will you no longer root for Tennessee while he is on scholarship? Will you boycott all players from Florida in a righteous "Rev. Fallwellesque" glory?

no. You will root and cheer for his aggresiveness and passion for the game. Until he gets a little too aggressive for you and then he's just a "thug" again.

I have the following observations as I look at today's scores:

1. Putting two teams from the city of Miami on the field at the same time is a really bad idea.
2. The next time Adrian Peterson's father sees him play, it will be on a Sunday in 2007.
3. The Era of Orgeron is upon us.
4. Being one who believes all luck in sports evens out, I think that Bob Stoops is now paying for all the good fortune he enjoyed his first couple of years at OU.
5. Larry Coker is done. You can't have a scene from "Gangs of New York" on the field if you're not winning big.
6. I guess Greg Schiano gave Vol Nation board favorite Paul Johnson a bit of a lesson today.
7. It's going to be a very busy hiring season in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area.
8. Thank God we're going to be spared all the whining about the possibility of an undefeated SEC team being left out of the BCS title game.
9. Michigan is very, very solid.
10. Athens, GA in '06 is now officially Knoxville, TN circa '05.

You left out one:

11. USC is going to lose at least 1 game in the PAC-10 this year.

I can't wait to hear Holtz discuss the brawl. I think that will qualify as expert testimony.

I see them tightening up the bolts, bit by bit... They're going become harder to beat as the year goes on. Carpenter just picked this game to come out of the funk he's been in all season.

Actually, the comment I made about the players at Miami were not meant to be anyone FROM Miami such as Morley.

I've been to Miami. I've seen the kids that they recruit, and that play for that team and those are the ones I said havea "thug mentality". It seeps into them as soon as they arrive on campus.

In fact, it's the reason Morley chose NOT to play there, and the reason Kenny Phillips chose TO play there. Those two are totally different people.

For what it's worth, Morley is one of my favorite players. But if he pulls the stunt that Miami's players pulled tonight, yes, he will be a thug.

Scheaffer was a thug when he was here. Banks was a thug when he was here. Ontario Smith...thug. Brandon Johnson....thug. It's not "just because" they play for Miami that I called them thugs, and it's not every player on thier campus. But the ones that were out there engaging in THUGISH activities will continue to be called a Thug.

He already did at halftime of the Fla/Auburn game. He sounded completely devastated and said it was indicative of zero respect for authority and that it was the coaches' fault. He even brought up that his retirement had been announced prior to the Clemson game and that he didn't have control of his team either.

Fair enough.... I just contend that all the players down there are not thugs. I just don't like to see that righteous paintbrush slapped around the whole squad.

I'd like to think that my teammates would help me out in a fight if other players were trying to kick me while I was down. So I don't blame some of the guys for what happened. But the jackass with the helmet defintely neesd to be kicked off the team, if not put in jail for assualt.

You defended your point. I defended my opinion on it.

....Lets leave it at that.

Well, I give him credit for taking responsibility. As I remember, he did the same thing when it happened.
