Miami-Florida Int. Brawl (Merged)

Just proved what we all thought about the U.....a consortium of convicts!!!!!!

:good!:

Sad thing is they will continue to attract top prospects and NFL caliber coaches. Probably be a preseason Top 10 team next year also.

Like I said in the other threads, this won't hurt Miami's recruiting one bit. They get the recruits because thier players usually end up getting drafted and why wouldn't a recruit go to Miami? Beach, sun, babes, drugs and money....it doesn't get any better.

Was watching ESPNU at 6:00. They were re-hashing the brawl and they reported the announcer has been fired by CSS.

Dan Le Batard had the best description of Lamar Thomas on his show tonight. Lamar Thomas: Professional Clown and Idiot.

Did anyone see Reddick's public apology today? How many times did he have to look down at the written statement he was reading?

Is it possible to bungle this any worse than Donna Shalala is doing right now?

I doubt it.

When USC and Clemson got in a fight in 2004, did each institution impose the bowl ban on themselves or did the conferences do it?

I'm pretty sure the schools did it . . . but I think it's a little unfair to compare the two situations on that basis. In the Clemson/SC situation the rest of the story was that both teams were set to go to minor bowls with relatively low payouts where it was going to actually cost the schools money to go play in the games. Their decision wasn't quite as noble as it may have seemed.

Miami is still in a position where they could win the ACC and get a BCS bid. It would really surprise me to see them forego the payout of a possible BCS bid.

As a fan of folks like Tark, Switzer, and Huggins, I do admire not letting public opinion decide your disciplinary actions. However, it is galactically stupid to go in front of the cameras and pat yourself on the back for not being tougher. Set the penalties and move on.

I'm not even commenting really on the severity of the penalties. I'm just amazed at some of the idiotic things coming out of the mouth of a seemingly intelligent person.

Why in the world would she: 1) Not even watch the video replay of the incident; 2) Actually admit to the media that she hasn't even viewed the footage while at the same time stating categorically that she is the judge and jury and that the buck stops with her? She's just not coming off as a very strong leader.

That's because she's not a strong leader. She's a political animal who tries to win the polls and press conferences instead of actually taking legitimate action.
