Miami-Florida Int. Brawl (Merged)

Lamar Thomas, former UM player, during CSS game coverage...

"Now, that's what I'm talking about," Thomas said as the brawl raged out of control. "You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into the OB playing that stuff. You're across the ocean over there. You're across the city. You can't come over to our place talking noise like that. You'll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing."

Wow. Just, wow.

I found it on Youtube. YouTube - Miami Hurricanes vs. FlU fight

Thomas goes on to say he hopes they continue the fight later, after the game. What is REALLY disgusting is how the fans in the stands are cheering the UM players who after the fight danced around like idiots. Once again, a large number of the people in the stands have absolutely nothing to do with the University of Miami. Just local punks who want to be "part of" the thug tradition.

Pathetic.

lol brutal. after FIU Alabama plays talladega school death and blind, then Hoover high which Alabama is -10 underdog in both matchups.
Perhaps I could ask HOW Bama is a dog in this matchup? :p

As far as this goes... Listening to Dan Patrick right now. Apparantley The U's admin says they're "coming down hard" by suspending players for the Dook game.

The sad thing is, while it fails in comparison, is that it doesn't surprise me at all (that because its Miami). Some of them deserve to be kicked out of school IMO. Had that happened in the streets they'd be in jail right now. Swinging helmets, kicking guys on the ground.....lock 'em up....
And the stupid announcer....I think he'll lose his job.

Lamar Thomas has never been anything but a low rent Michael Irvin wannabe. Nothing he says would surprise me. He's a guy who was always able to run his mouth on the field because he knew the real bada$$es on the team could back him up. Kind of like Laimbeer running his mouth because he knew Mahorn, Edwards, etc. could take care of business if needed.

Tupac probably deserved to be in jail as well. I just like his music, movies, and poetry. Very talented man that led a very troubled life.
Kind of my opinion of a lot of the guys from the "U" that people rip. For the record, I think Tupac was actually one of the great talents of the latter 20th century. I just found irony in anyone with that avatar ranting about "thugs.'

Really hate, what's your take. When I saw that I was wondering what your take would be.

What's your take hate?
I was there. I've written extensively about it on the other sports board, but here's the quick version.
1. The incident underscores how little his players regard Coker.
2. Anthony Reddick and Brandon Meriweather should be suspended for a hell of a lot longer than one game.
3. I'm just glad it will expedite the return of Greg Schiano to Coral Gables.

Yep, Coker is out I would have to guess. I can't imagine only giving a one game suspension. That makes Miami look even worse. I know FIU only gave out one game as well but who really cares. This could have a longer lasting impact than many think. It's one thing to do this type stuff when your winning. But now? This could be damaging from a recruiting stand point. Not only the fight but how the admin has handled it as well.

We already have at least 3 other threads on this where you can find alot of opinions. They have a VERY long reputation for being thugs on and off the field. I think alot of it is because they are mostly inner city Miami kids that live a life of drugs and gangs. The ones caught on tape throwing punches, stepping on players and using weapons should be gone for the season. A one game suspension against Duke is a joke.

Coker knows he is gone. He also has to understand that one of the main reasons is because he has no control of the team and no respect from the players. What does Larry have to lose by playing the 2nd and 3rd string guys the rest of the season?

The ACC and the Sun Belt have also failed miserably to discharge their duties. If member institutions won't voluntarily do the right thing, the conferences should do it for them. Imagine how awful the ACC looks if Miami somehow regroups and beats Ga Tech and Va Tech. Having the 'Canes in the ACC championship game will do wonders for the league's image.

Sad thing is they will continue to attract top prospects and NFL caliber coaches. Probably be a preseason Top 10 team next year also.

Miami has had disciplinary problems in the past, it seems to have gotten worse under Coker. Probably the final nail in the coffin for Coker.

Im evil, If I was the AD, I kick them off the team and fire the coaches. show the players things like this doesnt go lightly. rebuild from zero.
