Miami-Florida Int. Brawl (Merged)

Well, I remember once on this site where i called Miami "Thug U" and i about got my head bitten off...glad to see some agree now.

I dont know why. Miami is THE Thug U. Anyone that disagrees needs to look at the scum that have come out of there including the moron that was commentating. Not to mention Kellen "I'm a soldier" Winslow. Just another reason to hate miami.

LOL. Looks like Coker has decided to bring down the iron fist. 18 FIU players and 13 Miami players will be suspended for a whole game. Wow, what ever will Miami do to beat mighty Duke without 13 of their players? What a joke.

Exactly. We only produce solid citizens like Leonard Little, Albert Haynesworth, Dwayne Goodrich, and Chris Mims.

...and a host of other Volunteers. Not that Miami doesn't have problems, but this is a glass house issue.

True, true. But you can't deny that Miami is on the news about this kind of stuff waay more than UT is. Not saying that bad stuff doesnt happen behind closed doors. Last year was a horrible year when it came to discipline, but Miami has been known for their players' attitudes.

I'll say this. Whether fair or not, Miami definitely has a PR problem when it comes to stuff like this due to the way Dennis Erickson let the program go.

It depends on what you're using as a time frame. If you're starting back during Jimmy Johnson's days at the "U," I'd agree. If you're starting at the hiring of Butch Davis coming forward, we've had considerably more off field problems than the 'Canes.

Ah, yes. The brawls with San Diego State and Colorado, as well as the classic 300+ yards in penalties accumulated during the dismantling of Texas in the '91 Cotton Bowl. Dennis did run a bit of a loose ship.

The media is unanimous in killing Coker. Even Drew Rosenhaus, who for some reason is a commentator on the Fox affiliate, blistered Ears. Even more surprising, Drew went after the players.

Probably true. Unless he starts managing boxers... Who'd you saw was the #1 brawler?
Kenny Phillips has very good pugilistic form. Somehow, he has avoided suspension. Rosenhaus only went after the guys who were suspended. That makes sense, considering Phillips is probably the only elite NFL prospect on the roster.

The only thing deflecting heat off of Coker is the fact the Dolphins are the NFL's biggest flop.

I was listening to ESPN this morning and the rumor mill said Saban was being rumored to take the Canes' job!

It's the third on-field incident involving the Hurricanes in their last seven games. And there's been plenty of off-the-field ones, too.
-- Several Miami players fought with LSU players following the Tigers' 40-3 win in the Peach Bowl, a brawl that quickly escalated into an out-of-control melee in the tunnel leading from the field.
-- Shortly before the Miami-Louisville game Sept. 16, virtually the entire Hurricanes' roster jumped on the Cardinals logo at midfield -- an act widely viewed as a taunting gesture. Afterward, several Miami players chided teammates for their involvement in that incident.
-- A Miami player was shot outside his home shortly before training camp began in what players contend was a robbery attempt. Meriweather returned fire at the alleged assailants. Police said he acted legally.
-- Wide receiver Ryan Moore, who was sent home from the Peach Bowl for violating team rules, was suspended for the first two games of 2006 for other violations. He is expected to be charged this week with misdemeanors stemming from an August fight with a woman. He hasn't played this season.
And now, perhaps, comes the worst blow of them all, a melee that was out of hand within seconds of starting.

And why does the "U" get a bad rep?
